Meredith Grey and her mother aren't the wealthiest people alive Meredith is working 2 jobs to pay for her and her mom. Ellis, Meredith's mother isnt very healthy either bit some days she feels fine enough to head to town just to get out of the house...
"Derek I know you don't want to do this but my cancer will get worse and when it does I want to fight it and when I fight it I can't be running the company and my family believes that you have to be married or atleast a girlfriend" Christopher explained to his son. "I'm well aware dad and I want you to fight your cancer I just- All the girls there are going to be after money" Derek sighed. "Derek there is going to be multiple people there I believe that atleast one of those people will care for you and yeah maybe they do want the money but the money I give them could be used for a good cause" Christopher said. "Okay one girl just one I need to find the right one" Derek thought out loud to himself walked out to see the rest of his family.
"Uncle Derbear!" Derek heard lilly his favorite little 3 year old niece Kathleen's first child him and Kath were always close he was close with his sister Amelia too but just a bit closer to Kathleen and Amelia had no kids anyway. "Hey lilly pad!" Derek exclaimed as he scooped her up and started tickling her. "Lilly you need to stop doing that mommy is caring your little sister around in here and she is about done baking" Kathleen sighed "hey Kath" Derek smiled moving Lilly to his hip "oh hey Derek when did you get back" Kathleen said with a smile "about 20 minutes ago I was coming to see all 4 of my sisters and 7 nieces and nephews" Derek said smiling "soon to be 8" he added have you and David thought of any names for baby number 2?" He asked "yeah we like the names Grace and Delaney I'm leaning towards Delaney though" she said smiling "that's a nice name" he said "Uncle Derbear can we go play?" Lilly asked tugging on his shirt "in a bit lilly pad I have to go say hi to everyone" okay I will be plwayin with Bri and Reese come get me soon" she said as he set her down "okay Lilly I will" he said. Bri was actually Brianna she is Liz's youngest she is 3 like Lilly Reese just turned 4 recently, they are the best trio. "Okay everybody is in the family area" Kathleen said "okay then family area we go" Derek chuckled.
Once they walked in everyone was surrounding Derek because he has been in Europe the past 10 months. "Derek how was Europe?" Carolyn asked "it was good but I much rather be here" he said picking up Lilly who was back by his side. "Are you cited for the gala night Uncle Derbear?" Lilly asked hugging him "I am Lilly pad as long as your be there for a little bit with me" Derek said smiling "course me will be there" she said sitting up a bit in his arms and put her arms in the air "grandpa says you are going to find a girlfriend" they heard Anastasia Nancy's oldest say from behind them. "Oh yeah he did say that are you going to be bringing in the girls Uncle Derek" Elliot said he is Liz's oldest. "Guys that's enough" Nancy said "it's fine Nance" Derek sighed "what mean?" Lilly asked "nothing Lilly pad" he said rubbing her back.
The gala was in a hour so Derek was getting ready to greet his guest and to unfortunately look for a spouse that probably wont even love him. "Derek you look great!" His mother said as he walked down the stair case "thanks ma" he smiled "no problem people will be coming soon and your father wants to see you" she said "okay I'll see you later and make sure Lilly finds me to show me her pretty dress" he laughed before going to find his dad.
"Hey dad" Derek said as he found his dad in the ball room. "Hello Derek" he dad said smiling at him "okay so just keep in mind not everybody that shows up is there for you" Christopher said "I know that dad" Derek said laughing a bit. "Why wouldn't you look at that all my grandchildren are here" Christopher said looking as his family walked in the room. "Yes that is" Derek said heading downstairs to see everyone.
"Uncle Derbear!" Lilly exclaimed smiling. "Hey Lilly pad" he said scooping her up in his arms making her laugh. "Put down show dress!" She laughed "okay show me your dress" he said putting her down. "Pretty?" She asked him spinning in circles "it's very pretty Lilly" he said smiling at her

"Thanks" she giggled "well people will be coming soon so we better get your grandma, Anastasia, and Elliot" Derek said "okay" she said and Derek picked her up to go look for the others. "Ma" Derek called out he had already sent the 10 year olds to the ballroom "in here Derek" his mother called out from the kitchen. "Oh wow ma you made a lot of cookies" Derek laughed "mmmmmm cookiess" Lilly said "mm is right Lilly" Carolyn said "need any help?" Derek asked "no I'll just put them on a cart and push them out there" Carolyn said "okay ma" Derek laughed and took Lilly back to the ball room.
