Lucy POV:

This is my story; it’s not a story with happily ever after written at the end.  My story is not about living life to its fullest or any stupid motto.  It’s about barely hanging on.  It’s about a stupid mistake I made and how it almost cost me my life.  I was 21 years old and at a bar in the middle of San Diego when in walks a group of drop dead gorgeous guys.  They were loud, quickly ordered drinks, and seem to be having the time of their life.  I was sitting at the bar triple checking order forms for next week.  See I own this bar.  When my brother joined the Marines he struggled to take care of both the bar and doing his job serving the country.  So on my 21st birthday he gave me the bar as a birthday present.  One of the guys wasn’t drinking that much and wasn’t dancing making a fool of himself.  I stopped to laugh at the fact that one of the guys was currently dancing on the couch without a care in the world. He would be giving John the bouncer some trouble later for sure. The one who I assumed was the designated driver was ordering drinks for his friends next to me.  While waiting he saw the papers in front of me. “I don’t mean to be rude but why are you doing work at the bar, shouldn’t you be partying?” He asks.

“Well I own this bar, so I have to keep an eye on things” I reply.

“My name is Zack by the way, I apologize for the idiot currently ruining your couch, and I have a feeling that it might get worse.”

I laugh “Well it’s supposed to be a party, what are a few broken things to a lifetime of memories” I never thought that sentence would apply to more than a party.

“Well he can certainly pay for the damages he leaves behind” Zack chuckles. “What’s your name miss, I do believe I missed it”

“I never said it, the name is Lucy.”

“Well Lucy it’s nice to meet you and your bar is fantastic by the way.”

“Thank you, it just got voted the top bar in San Diego actually.”

“Well it deserves it.” He was a sweet guy and we chatted for a couple hours.  I put away my paperwork and got a beer.

“May I ask why you’re not drinking as much as your friends” I say gesturing to the skunk haired guy currently dancing on top of the corner of my bar.  John sent me a look but I waved it off, let them have fun.

“I don’t like to have a dreadful hangover the next day when preforming”

“Preform what?”

“I play bass in a band called All Time Low”

“Wow that’s cool, I didn’t pin you as a rock star, you’re not acting like a diva”

“Yep I’m kinda laid back”

“I take it the idiot on the bar is in the band?”

“Yea that’s our guitarist Jack” He turns and starts pointing out band members. “That’s Alex, he’s a guitarist and lead singer” He was laughing and attempting to climb onto the bar with Jack.  “That’s our drummer Rian over there” He points at the guy talking to one of my regulars who helps bartend when were swamped. He continues to point out the crew around the bar and his manager videotaping Alex, who made it on the bar without breaking anything, and Jack.

“Why is he videotaping them?”

“So they know what they did and why part of their paycheck is missing”

“Smart”

“He does it whenever they do something dumb, which is all the time unfortunately” We talked all night and the last thing I remember was dancing with Zack.

I woke up and realized I wasn’t in my room.  I roll over to see Zack sleeping next to me.   I jump out of bed and realize I’m not wearing clothes. “Awwww Man” I whisper.  I quickly gather my clothes and tiptoe to the bathroom. I close the door and quickly get dressed. Judging by the evacuation plan on the back of the door, the toiletries bag, and the cute individual shampoos sitting on the counter I was in a hotel.  I slip my shoes on and slip out of the bathroom to look for my purse.  I find it on top of a closed suitcase. I needed to leave before I got kicked out or Zack woke up.  I leave a note for Zack on my half of the bed. “You’re an amazing person, definitely not a diva and good luck on tour; Love Lucy”.  I make it home and fall into my bed.  I realize all too late that I never saw a condom, or a wrapper.

Zack’s POV:

I brought Lucy with me to the hotel last night.  I woke up expecting to see her smiling face and work out how we could have a relationship when we live so far from each other.  Instead I was greeted by a cold bed and a note.  I can’t believe she didn’t feel the spark I did.  I mopped around the rest of the day. “Cheer up you didn’t lose 3000 dollars for dancing on top of a bar” jack complained.

“I didn’t lose money, I lost something more important”

“Did you finally lose your virginity?!”

“Jack I lost that years ago”

“I was joking jeez wake up on the wrong side of the bed”

“No” I woke up without her in my bed.
