“But mom everyone goes to concerts”

“No, I can’t go with you, so you’re not going”. It’s been nearly 7 years and Sunday and I moved to Dallas permanently to be close to Julie.  My brother was still in the Marines and Julie and I needed each other’s support.  I was currently listening to Julie and Abby, her daughter, argue.

“I can take her” I say while packing Sunday’s lunch.  My niece wanted to go to some concert that lasted the whole day called Warp Tour.  “Since Sunday is going to day camp I don’t have a problem watching her”

“Are you sure?” Julie throws me a look.

“We’ll be fine” I assure her.

“Yea Aunt Lucy is only a couple of years older than me, we’ll blend right in”

“First off, your aunt Lucy is 14 years older than you! And fine”.  Abby high-fives me.  The concert is in two days that pass unbelievably fast.  When we get to the venue I can’t believe my eyes.  Half the girls here aren’t wearing real clothes, no wonder Julie didn’t want us going.  We get inside and Abby has a map with circled set times.  Damn this thing is huge.  We walk by a random stage and some blonde haired chick is singing.  Abby keeps walking.  We stop in front of a huge stage that people are starting to file towards.  A small guy with long hair comes on stage.  I recognize him immediately.  He used to go to my bar all the time with his friends.  I still own the bar and drop in every so often to see how it’s going.  When the set finishes I catch a pick from the lead singer and hand it to Abby. She jumps up and down with excitement.  We go to three more sets, one of which was Yellowcard, a band as old as Green Day. I enjoyed the set and sung along.  Abby drags me to the other large stage; I’m excited until a familiar guy walks out and sits behind the drums. My heart drops.  The guy named Jack who caused 3000 dollars’ worth of damage to my bar walks out next. Then Zack comes out and I feel my breath catch in the back of my throat.  Abby screams like crazy attracting attention.  As they start to play, Abby leans over towards me.

“Throw your bra” she says.

“My WHATT?!?!”

“Your bra!” She pulls hers from under her shirt and flings it.  I don’t know what I was thinking but I reach under my shirt and bando and undo my bra clasp.  One motion changed everything. I flung my bra and it hit the guy in the face.  As the song ended Jack took my bra from around his neck.

“Hey Alex did you see the woman who threw this bra”

“No why”

“She's got nice sized tits and she's our age judging by her face”

“Show yourself” Alex giggles

Abby screams and points at me. Ohhhhh shit! They all see me and I fling my head down so they can't see my face. This works until the crowd in front of us parts and our hiding spot 5 people back is suddenly blown. I look up quickly and wave then grab Abby's hand and run. I'm crying and running but I can clearly hear Zack scream my name in the most painful voice I've ever heard as we disappear into a crowd of people.

Zack POV:

Just another day of warp tour in the middle of the heat. We are getting ready to play a set, I was staring at the faded picture I had of Lucy and Sunday. I had it laminated to keep the footprint on the back from being ruined. I finally told the guys a few years ago. I couldn't hold it in any longer and I told them on Sunday's 3rd birthday. On April 5th every year the guys show up with a cake and we celebrate but it's bittersweet, as I miss Sunday and Lucy terribly and I’m normally drunk for the next 4 days drowning in liquor. “Time to go on stage Zack” I hear from a far off place. I walk out and play as if nothing's wrong, but I'm just going through the motions. Right as we're about to start Dear Maria Jack and Alex start talking about a girl in the crowd. I don't pay much attention and just nod my head every so often. Then the crowd parts and I start listening. The woman lifts her head. She's aged very little but her hair is dyed a similar brown to mine but the way she waves and that smile are the same. She takes off into the crowd and I scream her name. The guys all look at me and I turn to run off stage.

“Oh no you don't!” Matt turns me around

“I have to its Lucy!” I scream

“I'll go you stay and finish dear Maria and then while the boys go to the acoustic basement you can help me look.”

I nod and run on stage. The faster we finish the less likely it is that Lucy is gone.

Lucy POV:

I drag Abby into a random concert and sigh in relief as she starts rocking out to the band on stage. Some guy with longish hair running around while a ginger rocks out on stage and some guy with a shark tattoo plays bass, there were others on stage too but I wasn’t paying attention. I collected my thoughts and listened to the band. They were pretty good. Abby drags me to a smaller stage that is clearly set up for an acoustic show. We stood off to the side and Alex walks on stage. Oh for the love of Pete!

“This is a song that's has a special meaning to one of my band members it explains the past 7 years for him. He normally stares at a photo during this song.  Even the title of the song relates.”

Alex starts a song that sounds amazing. I listen to the words and gasp. Is he talking about Zack? And could that photo be the one photo I sent him the day Sunday was born? Then a girl comes on stage and sings her part. It sounds a lot like my story.

“Thank you that was Remembering Sunday, and this is Therapy.” As all the people around me, I try to clear the tears from my eyes. Perhaps Zack wanted to be a part of Sunday's life? No he just wanted to take my miracle from me.

“I'll be back I have to go to the bathroom” I tell Abby. Julie would kill me if she knew I left Abby alone but I need a second. I go sit under a tree and try to clear the tears from my eyes. I unlock my phone and go through all the pictures I have of Sunday; her goofy grin, her first tooth, when she first walked, and her first word. That was a hard day for me. I sat at home with Sunday while everyone went to a party. I was alone with Sunday and she just wouldn't stop staring at me crying. I screamed "what!" at her. That was the only time I've ever yelled at her. Her response was, "Daddy".  Her first word was the one thing I couldn't provide her without a serious cost. I spent the whole rest of the day cradling Sunday. Only after she fell asleep on my chest did I begin to cry again. I swipe to the next picture and see Abby holding Sunday. Sunday was just a month old and Abby begged to hold her every day.  Julie finally ok-ed it and I handed Sunday over having no problem in the first place. I took the picture that day and Abby's face when she saw something so little was amazing. She and Sunday had locked eyes and I knew a friendship had formed. To this day the two are thicker than pea soup and never separated for long. I won't know what to do when Abby leaves for college in a couple of years. I sit under the tree for a while just looking at pictures. Abby walks up after and sits next to me.

“What's next?”

“There's not another band I like for another half an hour so we can walk around listening to other bands we haven't heard of yet.”

“I like that idea.” I grab Abby's arm and we skip around the venue to the closest stage with a guy with a t-shirt that had an animal missing part of its head. I giggle at the silliness of the cartoon. We listen to the band that's called Bring Me the Horizon. Abby gets hungry and we sit to eat the trail mix from my bag.

Zacks POV:

I've looked everywhere for Lucy and everywhere I go she's not there. Not many people recognize me and I'm able to keep searching. I finally collapse on the sidewalk and put my head in my hands. Defeated I sit there. I stare at the only picture I have of the love of my life and our child. She's 6 now and I've missed so much but not anymore I promise myself, not knowing if Lucy would let me keep it. I've given up when I hear a laugh I haven't heard in close to 7 years. I stand up and see on the other side of the curb a women and teen sit sharing a bag of trail mix. I walk up to the women from behind and know its Lucy. I step to the side and sit next to her. The teen stops mid chew and starts to choke. Lucy hasn't seen my yet since her back is to me as she flips the teen around and gives her the Heimlich.

“Geez Abby chew your food!”

She gasps for air and manages to point at me. Lucy spins around.
