Zack POV:
We arrived at the hospital and I was right behind the gurney. “Sir you need to wait outside”
“That's my wife and children please”
“Sir I'm sorry”
“Please.”
“Sit I can't I'm sorry. We have to do what's best for them.” She guides me to a chair and sits me down. “Is there anyone I can call?”
“No.” She nods then leaves me. I'm so filled with worry. I place my head in my hands and cry. I don't know how long I've been crying but I feel a hand grasp my shoulder in comfort. I look up to find a very winded Jack. “What are you doing here?”
“Lucy is my friend and you’re my friend. Why wouldn't I be here for my friends. How is she?”
“I don't know they won't let me see her or tell me anything.” He nods and I hear many running footsteps. I look up to find our whole band and crew, including the bus driver, all standing in the waiting room. We wait for what seems like hours before a doctor walks out.
“Lucy Merrick.” The whole group stands up and the doctor is alarmed. Wouldn't you be if you had a pregnant female patient and 40 men all stood up at her name?
“Since when did you guys get married?”
“Um a month before the tour.”
“We weren't invited?”
“So news?”
“Mr. Merrick if you could come with us please. We'd like to speak with you in private.” I follow the doctor to a random room. He shuts the door. “Sir you may want to sit down.” I sit on the edge of a chair and think the worst. “Mr. Merrick let's start with the semi-good news first shall we. We were forced to deliver your three sons by emergency c section. They are all perfectly healthy and waiting to be named in the nursery.”
“They aren't hurt at all”
“No fortunately they aren't hurt because your wife protected them. She was more concerned with their wellbeing so she didn't protect herself.”
“Oh my god please tell me she's alive.”
“Your wife is recovering in the ICU.”
“Thank god”
“But she hit her head against something on the way down. She damaged her occipital lobe fairly bad and as a result your wife is blind. We don't know if it’s permanent or not. We'll have to see but as of right now. She can't see.” Lucy protected the children not herself. And now she has to pay the price. Oh Lucy.
“Can I see her.”
“Yes.” He leads me to a room and attached to a machine is Lucy. “She's in a medical coma for right now. Would you like to meet your boys?” I nod. He shows me to a nursery on another floor. There in the window sit three identical baby boys.
“Sir you have to name them. We can't wait.”I rack my brain. Lucy was better at this than I was. “Can I bring a friend back here? He nods. I walk out to the waiting room to find a line of nervous people pacing. “Guys quit it.” They all look up. “Jack & Sunday come with me.” Jack one of the only ones sitting, picks Sunday up from his lap and walks up to me.
“What's going on?”
“I need your guys help.” We walk back to the nursery. I point to my boys. “We need to name them and Jack you know Lucy as well as I do. Sunday these are your brothers.”
“Wait is Lucy ok?”
“She's in a medical coma right now but we have to name them.”
“Ok.” Jack looks at the boys. “Well Lucy was talking to me about how much she liked the name Adrian.”
