Mommy always used to do my hair. But these days, Daddy's been doing them for me.

"Hold on sweetie," he mumbled, running my pink comb over my hair again and again, the thin plastic hair tie caught between his teeth, "Daddy's just...making it look prettier."

I sighed. Daddy doesn't know how to make pretty hairstyles like Mommy.

He looked at me through the mirror with one eyebrow lifted. "Why? Why are you sighing? Don't you like it when I tie your hair?"

I sighed again, resting my cheek on my fist. "Daddy, you're bad at tying my hair. You always do a ponytail."

He chuckled, taking the hair tie from his mouth and setting it down my small table. He removed his hold on the bundle of hair he spent minutes gathering before and smiled at me through the mirror.

"Okay then, let's do something different today."

Daddy's not very good at tying my hair. Sometimes when he twists the hair tie in my hair, some of my hair falls off! I know because it would hurt everytime and he would say sorry to me and kiss my head.

Mommy doesn't do that though.

Mommy can put my hair into pigtails and she braid them and put pretty clips and make me look pretty. But Daddy can only tie my hair in a ponytail. It's okay I guess. I'll forgive him because I love him but I really really really hate ponytails. They're boring and not very pretty to me at all.

"Better?"

I moved my head to the side to look at his work. A ragged line ran across the bottom half of my head, dividing the upper part in a smaller pony tail while the bottom half was let down. It was a bit uneven but I already expected that.

I nodded at him with stiff bottom lips, giving him an approving thumbs up.

He opened the small drawer on top of my table and pulled out a pink big ribbon clip and put it on my hair.

I was about to tell him that he put the ribbon clip too loosely when a phone rang from outside my room. Daddy's head snapped in the direction.

"Just a minute sunshine, Daddy needs to pick up his phone." He kissed the top of my head and then fastly left the room. So fast that he didn't see the pink ribbon sliding off my head.

Same old Daddy.

I picked the ribbon with a huff, marching over to the kitchen to show him that it fell.

If Mommy tied my hair today, the ribbon would probably not fall. Too bad that she's always sick these days. She's even in the hospital today!

She always used to play with make-up with me or take me to Aunt Wheein's house to play with Ggomo but she's always tired now. So Daddy's been playing with me.

He's not very good with make-up and he always puts the blush the wrong way. But I don't tell him that because I love him and I don't want him to get sad.

I hope Mommy gets better soon. So we can play again soon!

"Thank you for staying with her eomeoni."

"What are you saying? This is my daughter, of course I'm going to be here for her. And you deserve to rest too. You've been sleeping over at the hospital for 2 days straight!"

I heard Daddy sigh as I turned the corner to our kitchen. I'm not allowed here sometimes. But Daddy's not cooking now so I guess I'm allowed now.

I walked closer towards the chair where he sat, my foot padding softly as I went. But Daddy doesn't turn around. I don't think he knows I'm here yet.
