PRESENT

"Merry Christmas Suki. I hope you know that I'm always here for you,"

Clutching tightly onto her phone, Suki sniffled softly. "Thank you Sunghoon, I'm here for you too,"

Then there was the silent pause. The soft buzzing over the landline filled the said silence as both 19 year-olds tried to find the right words to say. Well, at least Sunghoon was.

Suki's mind stubbornly stayed on him. It was snowing that winter night and Suki's heart was frozen. It was painfully numb as her heartstrings tugged with every etching memory of him that replayed in her mind.

"I miss him Suki," Sunghoon cried softly over the phone. Her bestfriend's cries only made Suki's heart clench even more.

A big part of Suki was gone. For a while, she was complete and warm.

His smile, his warmth, his voice and the sweet melodic tune coming from the strumming of his guitar; all gone.

"I miss him too Hoonie, I really miss him," Suki quietly replied as tears streamed down her face.

In the corner of her bedroom, standing still, was her lover's acoustic guitar. The ever-familiar sight of the polished rosewood instrument made Suki think he would magically appear.

But he didn't. He couldn't.

Memoir: Apollo & Daphne

"Play something for me!" Suki exclaimed, sitting across her boyfriend.

Scrunching his nose at her, Jay nodded immediately as he played the tune of Suki's favourite song.

"Anything for you my love,"

The sound of the river flowing accompanied Jay's soft guitar jams, the sun to cloud ratio perfectly complementing the ambience of that summer day.

The trees danced gracefully in the wind's breeze as Suki and Jay sat on a picnic mat in front of a glistening body of water.

"Smile Jay!" Suki exclaimed again after snapping a candid polaroid of her boyfriend.

"You're telling me to smile after you took my photo," Jay playfully rolled his eyes as he chuckled at Suki's antics.

Nevertheless, he smiled at the Polaroid camera pointed towards him.

"Thank you~" Suki sang before lying down on the mat. Mirroring her actions, Jay set aside his guitar before laying beside Suki.

Turning to his side, Jay draped his arm over Suki's waist before snuggling his head into the crook of her neck.

"Happy 4th Anniversary, my Daphne," Jay whispered before smiling brightly at Suki.

It took every nerve in Suki's body not to scream every time Jay smiled at her.

That goddamned smile that made her heart beat faster than it should.

"Happy 4th my Apollo," Suki responded softly, placing a soft kiss on Jay's cheek.

That day was one of the core memories that remained in Suki's heart and mind. Jay and Suki were high school sweethearts, dating as early as 15.

In youth, there was love.
