Tsukishima hated winter.
When that time of year arrives, he tries not to notice, but how could he not? The weather is bitterly cold, the days are shorter, and he always falls sick around that time of year.
It was snowing that day, and Tsukishima was desperate for it to end. The 19-year-old despises the cold, and he despises feeling cold even more.
On his way home, he was driving across the snow-covered walkways. His mother forced him to acquire the stuff for their New Year's Eve feast. He wanted to decline, but since it was his mother, he couldn't help but obey.
The music playing on his car's aux played a familiar tune, and he couldn't help but notice it. It was a tune that reminded him of her.
He sighed and tried to ignore the lump that was developing in his throat. Swallowing hard, he put out a pale hand to change the music.
"It's been three years, Kei. I need to get my shit together."
Tsukishima may have developed a dislike for winter because it was her favourite season.
The season in which she fled, taking his entire heart with her.
