Kei's first day of high school has arrived.
As others have stated, high school is where the real fun begins. Everyone has the opportunity to do new things, such as doing something risky, meeting new people, and maybe falling in love. It's that time of year when teenagers discover love, friendship, and heartbreak.
While others looked to be ecstatic about the prospect of meeting new people and maybe finding a significant other, Tsukishima found none of it intriguing. Perhaps it was because of his salty personality that he was inherently uninterested in it.
'What's the point of being among all these noisy individuals in the first place?'
Tsukishima has no friends. He doesn't want any either. But if he had to identify someone he tolerates, it would be Yamaguchi. They did, after all, attend the same middle school.
It was required to have your own self-introduction and recite it to the entire class on the first day of class. Tsukishima's introduction, to say the least, was tedious. His reasoning is that he isn't interested in getting to know his peers or in bragging about himself.
"Good morning, everyone~! My name is (L/N) (Y/N), and you may call me (Y/N)!"
A cheerful voice drew Kei's attention. It was difficult not to notice. After all, the owner of the voice was quite loud.
"Well, (L/N)-san, do you have anything you'd want to discuss, like your likes and dislikes?" said the teacher.
"Hmm, why don't you figure it out for yourselves? Let's be good friends!" (Y/N) flashed a closed-eye smile, prompting the rest of the class to reciprocate with a smile in response to their highly enthusiastic classmate. Her cheerfulness spread like wildfire.
Tsukishima, on the other hand, despised such folks. Extremely loud and bright. And it just so happened that that classmate appeared to be his seatmate. Great.
When (Y/N) took the seat next to Tsukishima, he was already bracing himself for the worst. She gave Kei a questioning look before flashing him a mischievous smile. He disregarded his deskmate.
Also, one thing was certain. This irritated him.
Tsukishima became aware of his new seatmate's gaze examining his form as lunchtime approached. He attempted to show his annoyance, but that only made the weirdo smile bigger.
"Yo! What's good, seatmate? You look constipated!"
Tsukishima took a deep breath and tried not to let that nasty squirt's remark bother him. He rationalises that wasting time on someone stupid was pointless.
"Not much of a talker, eh? Say, how tall are you, Tsukishima-san? Your knees are touching your desk; you must be extremely uncomfortable, huh?"
"None of your business," he said coldly, hoping she'd get the idea and quit pestering him.
"Brr! Are you trying to sound cool, Tsukishima-san? It's working. Very hot." The girl gave him a stupid smile and a thumbs up.
Tsukishima wanted to grip his hair in frustration. What the heck was the matter with this squirt? Why is it refusing to leave him alone? Yes, it.
His seatmate continued to talk his ears off. God, can't he eat his lunch in peace? His (e/c) eyed classmate was making lame horse jokes and he heard her laugh loudly beside him. What the hell? It wasn't even funny. It was infuriating. Tsukishima hoped there would be some sort of distraction to take away that little piece of shit's attention off of him. Lucky for him, his silent plea was heard as Yamaguchi arrived, bento box in his hands.
"Tsukki?"
"Yamaguchi."
Is Tadashi hallucinating, or did Tsukishima sound relieved? Then he noticed his salty friend's deskmate, who was giving him an eye smile. He somehow connected the dots and gave himself a modest pat on the back. He was able to save Tsukki from... that.
"Oh my, Yamaguchi-kun, right? You're so adorable! I love your freckles so much! It fits you!" (Y/N) squealed, and Yamaguchi flushed. No one has ever told him that. It didn't help that he originally thought his lively classmate was beautiful.
"T-th-thank you, (L/N)-san," he trailed off, and (Y/N) giggled. Uncomfortably, he added, "W-what's f-funny?"
"You looked like a strawberry then. It was cute!" This girl had no filter.
Tsukishima rolled his honey-colored orbs, irritated at the exchange while Yamaguchi blew a fuse. The two of them continued to converse. It was mostly (Y/N) tormenting poor Tadashi, who sputtered in return. Yamaguchi, on the other hand, appeared to be enjoying the talk. Tsukishima wrinkled his brows in annoyance.
Kei prayed that his obnoxious classmate would leave them alone. Preferably, in perpetuity.
Unfortunately for him, (Y/N) has no intention of doing so anytime soon.
