3rd person POV
"All rise." The baliff said
then everybody stood up
"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Calling the case of the people versus Williams. Are both sides ready?" the judge said
"Ready for the defense, your honor" the district attorney said
"Ready for the defense, your honor." the public attorney said
"will the Clerk please swear in the jury?" the judge said
"Will the jury please stand and raise your right hand?" the clerk said as he waited for everyone to stand up
Kate and Jason then stood up and raised their right hand
"Do each of you swear that you will fairly try the case before this court, and that you will return a true verdict according to the evidence and the instructions of the court, so help you, God? Please say 'I do'." the clerk said
" I do" Jason said side eyeing his daughter
"I do" Kate said
"You may be seated." the clerk said
"Your Honor and ladies and gentlemen of the jury: the defendant has been charged with the crime of sexual assault of a minor, cild abuse, neglect, and illegal drug use. The evidence will show bruises and semen from the night of February 8th. The next day the defendant was arrested driving drunk as well as high. The defendant's DNA were in the victims rape kit. The evidence I present will prove to you that the defendant is guilty as charged." The Deputy DA said
the public defender then stood up
"Your Honor and ladies and gentlemen of the jury: under the law my client is presumed innocent until proven guilty. During this trial, you will hear no real evidence against my client. You will come to know the truth: that Jason Williams was asleep when the act was made. the crime was committed by someone else. After finding out what had happened, Jason was just trying to do the right thing. Therefore my client is not guilty." The public defender said
"The prosecution may call its first witness." the judge said
"The People call dectective Rollins to the stand"
Bailiff takes the witness to the witness stand.
"Please stand. Raise your right hand. Do you promise that the testimony you shall give in the case before this court shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?" the clerk said
"I do" rollins said
"Please state your first and last name." the clerk said
"Amanda Rollins."
"You may be seated."
"Please spell your last name for the record." the court reporter said
"R-O-L-L-I-N-S"
"Amanda, where do you work?" the deputy DA said
"Special victim units."
"What is the address of your business?"
