~Warning~ Uh. Well I mean it's a sex scene. So sin. You don't have to read it, but I did warn you so. And I know what you're thinking.

'Author, what could you possibly mean? There hasn't nearly been enough tension to lead up to a scene such as this!'

And I hear you. I whole heartedly do, and I would love to be able to write a good slow burn romance. But I'm an impulsive person. So I write what I know.

Adrien

He skidded to a halt, yanking open a storage closet and ducking in as the acuma stormed down the hall. He listened to her pass, his heart racing. This fear was new. Before he had Plagg, he hadn't been scared of acumas. But now? Now it was unnerving. He should have learned his lesson about arguing with an ex yesterday, when Nathaniel had been acumatized. Now it was Lila. He leaned forward against the door, exhaling a sigh of relief. His relief was short lived however, when he heard something behind him. Labored breathing. In a dark closet. He whirled around, his hand immediately swinging out to protect himself. It struck nothing but thin air. Was this school haunted? More breathing.

"Uh... hello?"

He dug his phone out of his pocket, keeping his back against the door in case he needed to bolt. He went unanswered, and he finally got his phone out, light spearing the darkness. In front of him on the ground was Marinette, one arm wrapped around her legs, one hand pressed tightly against her mouth, as if she had been trying to silence herself. She was crying.

"Mari? What's wrong?"

She removed her hand, wrapping that arm around her legs as well, burying her face into her knees.

"Why do you care?" Her voice wavered, and he knelt in front of her, placing his phone on the floor to keep the light on.

He had never seen Marinette cry about an acuma. Usually she was so brave during them. Maybe this Marinette got scared easy.

"I want to be friends." He whispered gently, placing a hand on her shoulder, not wanting to cross any boundaries that they had in this world.

She looked up at him, and for a moment he saw hope glimmering along with the tears in her eyes. But it was gone in an instant, and she shrugged his hand off. So much for making progress with her.

"No."

"Why not?"

If he could fix things between him and her, and Alya and Nino, if they could all be friends again this world would be a thousand times better than the real one.

"Because you're not him!" She snapped, and he immediately pulled away.

How did she know? Had he acted too different? Had he said something wrong? Even Lila couldn't tell the difference when they were supposedly dating. How had Marinette realized, when they weren't even friends in this world?

"What?"

Her features softened for a moment and she looked up at him. He almost backed away, the look in her eyes now was wild, practically predatory.

"You're not him." She mumbled, wiping the tears off of her face.

He forced a chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck. Maybe if he played dumb she wouldn't know for sure. Or at least she would drop it.
