18. Promotion

''I have an amazing, super duper, fantabulous idea for our promotion.'' Rebecca beamed.

''And what is your 'amazing super duper fantabulous idea' ?'' Hannah asked.
''Look, there's this news going on that there's a serial killer roaming the streets.''
''So ? I mean no one got any information about the killer and even the cops are keeping it super confidential.''
''We'll be the one to cover it.'' Rebecca said excitedly clasping her hands.
''How ? I mean how are we gonna do it ? We're not in the 'exclusive break department'. I swear their office is empty all the time because they're all out for stake outs all the time. All we do is take interviews and write articles. And how are we gonna get any information about the killer ?'' Hannah said in one breath.

''Miss Mara asked me to get an interview with the chief detective for a suicide case. And so i'll be going to the Police Station anyway. I'll sneak in the information on the serial killer then.'' Rebecca planned in a whispery tone.
''But won't that be stealing ? I mean we are committing a crime by stealing the confidential information. I don't feel right about this Rebecca.'' Hannah said disapprovingly.
''Everything is fair in work and promotion.''
''You made that up right now.'' Hannah said monotonously.
''Okay listen, i'll go and try to get anything. If I feel anything off i'll step back okay ?'' Ryu tried convincing her friend.
''I still don't feel good.''
''If you're that worried then tag along with me.''
''That seems better.'' She said slowly nodding her head.
''But right now i'll have to finish this if I have to go with you.''

Meanwhile in Stephen's cabin,

''Stephen what were you doing yesterday with Seokga ? I didn't ask you yesterday because you seemed pretty tired.'' Mara asked folding her hands to her chest.
''Let's talk about this later. I don't wanna talk about that here.'' Stephen avoided the talk.
''Stephen, I stepped on Earth for you. To help you. And these days it feels that you are the only one struggling with everything. Please tell me what's going on.'' She said softening her voice.

''I want to tell Hannah the truth.'' Stephen said giving in.
''We only need her for the divine stone. But Seokga is too cunning to use her for all the tasks. What if she's already sided with Seokga ?'' Mara asked.
''That is the reason I want to tell Hannah about everything. I can't sit here assuming whether she is with Seokga or not.'' Spencer was adamant on his thought.
''If it is so why haven't you told her anything yet ?'' Mara asked frustrated.

''If I reveal our identity, Spencer's truth will also be unveiled. She will be really hurt if she gets to know Spencer was just using her for the tasks. I can't be like Seokga, I can't hurt her just because of my reasons.'' He said in a emotional tone.
''You can't keep on thinking like that. It's got nothing to do with you.''
''Of course it does. I--- I'm their God, a deity. If it's not my responsibility then whose ?'' He said raising his tone a bit.

''As for the tasks, my search for the Eternal fire is still on. But it still seems like an impossible task. I'm searching everywhere I can.''
''Whatever you decide i'll stay by your side.'' Mara said holding his hand as he nodded in gratefulness.

''Where's Damein ? I haven't seen him since long.'' Mara asked making Stephen let out a chuckle.
''He's probably at the hospital.''
''What ? Is there something else I don't know about ?''
''I can't say much but something's cooking between him and Rebecca.'' He said smiling.
''Rebecca ? Did he move on from Dalnim ?''
''He should. He's been really different after she left. If that makes him happy I feel he should do it.''

Some time later,
Hannah and Rebecca were entering the Police Station when Rebecca's phone buzzed.

On call,
''Rebecca, are you free ?'' Damein asked from the other end.
''Not exactly i'm out for work purposes so I cant----''
''It's about Jadein.''
''I'm all ears.''
''I can't tell you anything on call. It would be better if we could meet.'' Rebecca thought for a few seconds,
''I'm coming ! Text me your location.'' Hangs up.

''Is everything alright ?'' Hannah asked Rebecca who looked at her sheepishly.
''Hannah, you're good at taking interviews right ?''
''So what ?'' She said getting a hint of where this is going.
''I think I need to run. I have to go. It's something about Jadein.''
''What ? No you can't leave me and your job for Jadein.'' Hannah said looking her with a dont do this face.

''Well I can't leave you but I can surely leave my job. Remember, you were the one who promised that you'd help me and Jadein get together. Now is your time.''
''I did but not like this. And you'll get fired if you leave now.'' Hannah tried to say anything that could stop Rebecca from doing this abrupt plan change.
''I am a chaebol heiress, what do I have to care about the job.'' She said winking.
''You try to get some information.''
''That's not what we decided.'' Hannah cried feeling betrayed.
''Please take care until then.'' Rebecca said walking away.

''But----'' Rebecca had already left.
Is she getting under Spencer's influence ? Now what do I do ?
