Chapter 3
Remembering
[Ariels POV]
"Tristan? Tristan!" I hear myself screaming. I look around the dark field of our high school. It's the middle of July at around 10 at night.
"Tristan, come on this isn't funny!" I say.
"Boo!" he yells tackling me from behind. I manage to turn around before I fall and as I fall to the ground his hand is behind my head like a pillow, cushioning the landing. He supports his weight as he sits on my stomach and starts tickling me, I can't help but laugh...
"Tristan! This is gross I'm on the dirt!"
"it's grass babe! It won't hurt you!" he says laughing
"stop...tickling...me...!" I say between giggles.
"ok then I'll kiss you."
All of a sudden Tristan gets really serious. He helps me get off the ground and holds me tightly in his arms. I caress the side of his face and lay my head on his chest.
"I don't want this summer to end..." I say softly.
"neither do I sweetheart... But we will have plenty of summers, we just gotta make the most out of them... This summer it's tickling you In the grass, who knows where we'll be next summer? Maybe somewhere around...here."
Tristan lifts my chin with his fingers and looks into my eyes...he gets down on one knee...
"Ariel, will you marry me?" I look at him confused, i am only going to be senior, we can't make thT type of commitment! Suddenly Tristan starts laughing...hysterically. I play hit him on the shoulder and as he got off his knee he lifted me into his arms. As he held me, he says these words.
"I, Tristan Gonzales, love you, Ariel Johnson." he stares at me with his piercing blue eyes and I melt a little.
"I love you too, Tristan." I say.
He kisses me Gently,I'm so happy, I'm nearly floating on air so I forget that Tristan is carrying me. When we break apart he puts his nose on mine, something he does quite often... And I love it! He puts my feet back on the ground.
"You know, I am feeling the sudden urge to tickle you again..." he whispers playfully.
" well,.." I say backing Away slowly. He lifts one eyebrow and looks at me curiously.
"your just going to have to catch me!" I say turning an running...then the picture fades black and all I hear is our laughter
I wake up to Tristans steady breathing in my ear. His arms are wrapped tightly around me and my back is pressed gently to his chest. The sky outside is Dark, the only light around is the small oil lamp that is hanging from the wall. I take a sharp inhale as I suddenly hear a conversation through the door.
"I know thAt I am the one who erased her memories but we are this close to breaking the barrier. I mean don't you think her lover and her sister is just too much? She is bound to remember something. And then what?" it was Erics voice.
My sister? Was here? How had she gotten here! Did she come with Tristan? Why wouldn't he mention it to me? I need to get up and think about what the heck is going on here.
I turn around, trying to get out of Tristans grasp. He tugs on me slightly, bringing me back to his warm body. He snuggles the side of his face into my back. I turn around and he lifts his head to stare at me sleepily. I hear Eric and whoever he had been talking to descend the hallway towards Erics room.
Tristan then closes his eyes and burrows his face into my hair.
I can't help but laugh at this. He always does this and it reminds me of a little kid snuggling with his mommy. I slowly untwist myself from his long, tan, muscular arms and get up to go sit cross legged on my chair next to the window.
How could Leah be so close yet so far away? Why would Eric accept her and Tristan in the first place? I think about Leah. Poor sweet innocent little sixteen year old Leah.
Suddenly I feel like crying. They had changed my sister and no doubt erased her memory. How was I ever going to convince her now? I had only managed to break my block because in a weird way, my subconscious mind was still thinking about everything and my mind reading powers couldn't stop hearing it. How could they do that to someone so young?
I let the tears stain my face as I leaned into my hands. I would trade myself to any rich messed up freak for my sister to not have gone through it. She deserves a normal life. Not to be trapped here. What am I going to do?
I decide to take my mind off of Leah by seeing what Tristan is dreaming about.
He walks through a thicket of wild growing holly as he searches for someone, but he can't quite figure out who. Someone whispers his name and he turns and heads through the holly, looking for an inexistent escape. His arms sting from the hundreds of cuts that are being dug into his skin as he searches. He sees something red in his peripheral vision and turns towards it. All of a sudden there were long lean, pale fingers around his neck, he closed his eyes and moaned into the feel of the hands that were now wrapping themselves around his neck. Then, there was something red, running down his well sculpted abs, it was hair. The person began to tighten there grip around his neck and just as he was losing consciousness, he looked at the face. It was the face of a women that I knew all too well.
My face.
