Ch. 12
Tied
(plea for mercy because tied was too short)
[Tristans POV]
I suddenly awaken to the sound of thunder rolling outside. I hear the crack as lightning strikes.
I look over and see Ariel. At least when shes asleep she isn't worried...I get up and stand by the window. What I see appalls me. I can't believe we slept through any of this! I see the dark, cloudy sky. The rain pours down on the earth; every thunder is like a demanding boom and every lightning like a lash of a whip. The grass below is matted and muddy and looks extremely dangerous and slippery. I look in the distance and see that many trees have already toppled over or are very close to. I also see snow coming towards us from the east. This storm has gotten ten times worse in the last couple of hours, what will it be like in the morning?
[Jasmines POV]
The room is dark and lonely tonight. The silence scares me. Leah, (whos sitting outside our door) was sobbing a couple hours ago, but now just sits there silently.Whatever is going on with her is getting worse. She wouldn't eat dinner, she wasn't paying attention when Jeremiah was talking, at lunch she refused to talk. The scariest thing is, she hasn't said one sarcastic comment this whole day! that isnt like her at all. I worry for her... And I wonder what could possibly make this young girl act so weirdly.
I also noticed that Ariel has been going through some rough times... she seems to have been arguing with Jeremiah, and the argument seemed to have really affected him, judging by the way he downed a whole ginormous flask in minutes. Now that I think about it, Ariel and Leah seemed to have tension between them also... Maybe something is happening between them? I'm not sure, but I know whatever it is, it should be resolved soon, before this gets out of hand.
[Jeremiahs POV]
I follow Eric down a long hallway to an empty guest room. The storm has gotten to powerful to drive in, and seeing as I live in New Jersey, it looks like I won't be going anywhere for a while. I think back to the conversation with my daughter... I need to talk to her. And Leah.
"Here is where you will be sleeping, you may stay as long as you wish." Erics voice cutiing through my thoughts.
"Do you think you could show me where Ariels room is? I would like to talk with her."
"Oh yes, she lives close to my room actually, all of the new ones do." I follow Eric down another hall. He stops and points to the second door to the right of the hallway. I watch him as he walks all the way to the end, and goes inside a room. I knock.
[Tristans POV]
Suddenly there is a knock at the door. I open it up to see Ariels father standing there.
"Hello sir." I say tiredly.
"Hello. Im seeking Ariel, is she here?"
[Jeremiahs POV]
"Sure" the young man answered suspiciously.
I entered casually and looked around. I saw Ariel sleeping peacefully on the bed. i turned to the young man.
"Sorry to kick you out, but can you please leave? I would like to talk to Ariel, privately."
He leaves after giving me a curt nod. I walk over to the bed that Ariel lays on and sit awkwardly on the edge. I touch her hair, then her face. Something I haven't done since she was little. I go into her dream.
'Ariel, we need to talk. Please wake up.'
I shake her slightly and she slowly wakes up. She looks at me confused, her eyes groggily trying to focus.
"Dad?" she asks. Just her calling me dad sends pride and hope through my veins.
"We need to talk sweetheart. I know that you are mad and you probably want nothing to do with me, but just give me a chance to explain myself." I say this as Ariel turns on a lamp thats on her beside table.
"Jeremiah... I don't known if anything that you say can change the way I feel about you." she seems more sober now, her eyes focusing on my face easier, although, she still has to squint towards the new light.
"Let me start from the beginning..."
[Leahs POV]
I lean my head back in frustration. Nothing makes sense. I hear the rhythm of footsteps walking towards me and turn to see Tristan.
"Hello Leah. How are you?" Tristan says sitting next to me on the wall and looks at me expectantly.
"Fine."
" Well you don't seem fine..." he looks into my eyes. For some strange reason, I felt like I could trust him, like I know that he will protect me from anything.
"Ariel told me something... And I just don't believe it. What she told me was impossible. I keep telling myself she must be crazy. But then when I think about her, she's probably the most sane person I know..." I trail off.
"Well let me tell you something, Ariel is the strongest, most honest, honorable and beuatiful person I know. you should know that you have the same thing inside of you. There's something about you two, something so spectacular. There's a will, and a strength that only you guys have, you can endure anything, do anything, be anything, and make it through anything... I know alot is confusing now, but it all will become very clear soon..."
I look up at Tristan. He would make a great motivational speaker. I ponder on what he says for a long time. Is it true? Do I really have something special in me? And how does he know? Why do I feel like I can trust him?
"Whatever Ariel told you, you will understand the truth. I know you will, you have to...."
A thought hits me. I'm going to have to deal with this sooner or later. I can't hide from Ariel forever, but I guess I'm just scared. Scared to feel anything towards anyone. I can't remember my past, so what if I forget again? I give Tristan a hug.
"Thank you."
[Ariels POV]
"I was turned wen I was about 16. I didn't like it. I wasn't like everyone else, not normal. I would get these visions, these very vivid images in my head, and they scared me. I realized that they were things that ended up happening... Like 9/11. It was horrible. I could feel what they felt, see what they saw... I was a coward. I still am. I drink because I don't want to have to deal with my visions Ariel. I left your mom because they were looking for me... You and your sister were in danger, and I didn't want anything to happen to you. So I just left. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I love you guys so much... I never wanted to hurt you."
I look up at Jeremiah. A single tear had fallen from his eye as he stared off into the distance. He... He was protecting us? From what? Who?
"Whos 'they' ?"
"The guy who turned me. They called him Dani Rodriquez. His real name was Damien. He was going to hurt you guys because I owed him money... I escaped so I couldn't be in the auction. I still have to watch out because he might still be looking for me.
Dani rodriguez? But that's Erics brothers name... That's when I remember. Damien Rodriguez is actually Damien Rodriguez the second.
(Note: hey! so i got an awesome editor: Chichiss:) you should check out her work:) also, she notified me that she was not aware that dream manipulators could actually see what the person is dreaming:( and in case you werent paying close atention earlier, remember that Jeremiah is a dream manipulator, can see the future, and can also put thoughts into peoples heads. i will go into more detail with what power can do what soon.:) please continue to comment and vote and read and fan!
