Was it punishment for what happened back in high school? Or pure coincidence? Better yet, could it be fate? Whatever the case, Olivia was happy her schedule became jam-packed with practice and work. With OTAs and training camp starting soon, Spencer had been equally as busy. This allowed them to only see each other in passing every once in a while.
Cheer practice was grueling. Two times a week for 4-5 hours straight, the team was conditioning and learning new routines for the season. For the rookies, it was a trying time. They had to give their all in every 8-count and with every stunt. Olivia had to work outside of practice with her stunt partner to get used to being a flyer. Those tasks on top of her job with the Baltimore Sun kept Olivia away from home for most of the day.
That didn't keep Trinity from being messy when her roommate wasn't home. Spencer was subjected to her constant teasing every time she caught him in the hallway, "Hey, Mr. James," she sang one morning. "Feels like I haven't seen my roommate in two days. Have you?"
"Nah. Haven't seen her in a while actually," he quickly answered, throwing his gym bag over his shoulder.
"Hmm," Trinity hummed suspiciously. "Okay, see you later."
Spencer didn't respond and headed towards the elevators. He had a meeting with his agent about a new endorsement opportunity. On his way to his agent's office, Cheyenne's number popped up on his watch. He used Siri to answer the call hands-free.
"Hey, Chey. What's going on," he answered.
Cheyenne paused, "Did you forget?"
Spencer's mind went through his calendar of possible appointments or special dates he could have possibly missed. When he couldn't recall what he missed, he asked, "Forget what? My schedule has been chaotic, you have to remind me."
The loud sigh from the other end told Spencer he was forgetting something important. "That I flew in today and I need a ride from the airport."
"Damn! I'm so sorry. That totally slipped my mind with everything going on. Let me see if I can have someone get you. I'm heading to a meeting that I can't miss. I'll call you right back, alright?"
When they hung up, Spencer thought of the one person who had lived in Baltimore for years. The only other person he knew besides his teammates. As he waited for her to pick up, he thought about the awkwardness this could cause. "Hi, Liv...I need a huge favor. If you're not too busy?"
"Just finished up at practice. What's up," Olivia asked, throwing her bag into her trunk. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm cool. I'm actually headed to a meeting and Cheyenne is in town. I forgot I had to pick her up from the airport and she's stranded. Could you possibly pick her up? So she can get into the building? I can text you my door code," he explained. "I understand if..."
"Sure, I'll get her," Olivia answered quickly, to Spencer's surprise. What are you doing, her inner thoughts screamed. She could feel Spencer's slight pettiness through the sincerity of his tone. There was no reason she couldn't pick up his girlfriend without making things weird. Right?
"For real," Spencer checked, making sure he wasn't making assumptions.
"Yeah, why not? My afternoon isn't too busy today. I'll get her...but wait, why can't you send her your door code? She'll just need me to get in downstairs," Olivia questioned, thinking back to Spencer's earlier statement.
The journalist was coming out and Spencer rolled his eyes and laughed, "Okay, smartass. Maybe I didn't think of that but whatever."
"Unless you don't trust your girlfriend knowing your passcode," she added.
