Part 13 - Boy or girl?

Thirteen weeks today and I'm feeling better. I'm not nausea all day long and I'm happy. The urinary tract infection is gone and I haven't had problems since then, which is good. Hero was always next to me and I'm grateful for him. I'm really happy because we have each other even if there are no romantic feelings between us. It will be hard for us after we will find our other half, but I think we will still do a great job with our co-parenting thing.

As I've reached my second trimester, we decided to give the news to our families. So, this weekend we're going to his parents' house for dinner and we will explain them our situation, hoping they will react well, as he reacted when I told him about this pregnancy. And about my family... We will have a video call before to leave to his parents. It was difficult to find a good hour for everyone due to the big-time difference between London and Perth.

Today it's Friday and I have to go to work for a few meetings. But first, I have to get ready. After a warm and relaxing shower, I put on my underwear and I look in the mirror. I smile because I can finally see a little bump. I grab my phone and I take a picture. I have to keep this moment in my mind and I have to send this to Hero.

I put my phone on my nightstand and I get dressed. As I'm done, I leave my house and I go to work. If I will be in my office today, I'll do all the work from there, so I will stay at work until 3pm. I arrive at work around 9 am and I walk in my office. When I turn on my laptop, I check for my phone, but I forgot it at home. Great! I will survive without it for a few hours. I work a while on my laptop, then I get up and I go to the conference room where I find Zayn.

Jo: "Zayn, hi!"

Zayn: "Hi! How are you feeling?"

Jo: "I'm good, thanks." I smile.

Zayn: "I didn't talk with you about your maternity leave."

Jo: "We don't have to talk about this. I'll work until the last minute. I would like to have more free time when the baby will be here. I can work from home and everything will be good for both of us."

Zayn: "Are you sure? You don't need time for making your nest?"

Jo: "No." I laugh. "As I will be home, I'll take breaks and I will do everything I want. But we will talk more when it's time, ok?"

Zayn: "Sure!"

After a long meeting where we discussed about the last details about our project, around 12 pm we were done and ready for lunch.

As I walk to my office, our receptionist, Callie calls me.

"Josephine? Someone is looking for you."

"Uhm, ok? Send them in my office."

"Ok, then."

I walk in my office and I wait to see who is looking for me, before I go to have lunch. I check my email, but then I hear a knock at the door.

"Come in!" I look to the door and I see Hero. What is he doing here?

"You're here!"

"Yes... Obviously I'm at work." I giggle and he sits in front of me. "What happened? Why are you here?"

"I called you and you didn't pick up. I was at your place, you weren't there and I thought something happened. So, I came here."

"Oh, I'm sorry if I scared you. But I forgot my phone at home. I'm sorry you had to come here."

"Oh, no. It's fine. Anyway, let's have lunch together."

"Okay, but let me show you something before."

"What's up?"

"Look." I turn and I lift up my blazer, so he can see my small bump. "It's growing."

"Oh, that's nice." He has a big smile on his face. "I can't wait to see the baby again."

"We're going to see him or her in two weeks. And maybe we will be lucky to find the gender."

"Let's hope we will. Shall we go?"

"Yep."

I take my bag, Hero helps me to put on my coat and we leave to a restaurant near my office. We sit at a table and we order our food.

"So... tomorrow morning, are you still coming?"

"Of course! I'm coming at your place and we're having the call with your parents, then we will leave to my family's house."

"Good."

"When is your next appointment?"

"From today in two weeks. It will be again a long appointment because she will inform us about the second trimester and what tests I have to do now, besides that it's the ultrasound. And we can know the gender."

"What do you want?"

"Honestly, I would love to have a baby girl. I saw many little clothes for girls and I felt in love with them. But if it's a boy, I'm not complaining. While it's a healthy baby, I don't care what gender it has."

"Yeah, you are right. I would like to have a girl too, but as you said, a healthy baby is better than anything."

After having lunch in town with Hero, he takes me back to work and we say goodbye. I go back in my office, but before to enter in my office, Lexie stops me.

"Hey, Jo!"

"Hi, Lexie."

"Who was that man?" She smirks. Ugh, I don't want to give explanation to anyone.

"He's a friend of mine."

"A friend, huh? He was hot. Your boyfriend?"

"It's complicated, Lexie..."

"Oh, I'm sorry, then. I didn't want to make you feel bad."

"It's ok. I gotta go. I'm going back to work."

I walk to my office and I start to work. Around 3pm, I was done and I left work. Before to go home, I stop at Walmart to do some groceries. When I'm done, I go home. As I arrive, I take my groceries in the kitchen, then I go upstairs to get dressed in something comfy. I remember about my phone and I check it. It seems I have a text from my mother in which she announces me that they won't be able to talk with me tomorrow morning. Something came up and they won't be home, so she suggests we should talk on Sunday. I send her a text where I tell her that it's okay on Sunday.

After that, I go downstairs, so I can prepare my dinner. While my meal is cooking, I remember to call Hero, so he won't come here too early.

Phone call

"Hi, Hero!"

"Hi, Jo. Everything is alright?"

"Yes, yes. I'm ok. I wanted to tell you that my parents are not available tomorrow morning for our call, but we can talk with them on Sunday."

"So, I don't have to come after you too early?"

"Yes, that's right. So, come when you think, so we can be in time for lunch with your parents."

"Ok, then."

"See you tomorrow."

"See you!"

Josephine is finally feeling better. Everything is going well with her pregnancy.

Soon, they will found out the gender of the baby. What do you thing they will have? A girl or a boy?
