The best friend of the saviour. The third wheel in the golden trio. The dumbest and least brave member of said trio. The "little" brother who will never be anything more. The attention seeker who is always jealous.

This was what everyone said about me or called me. I wore my heart on my sleeve from day one. I saved Harry's life by sacrificing myself in first year. I might not have been much help in second year but I risked everything to get Harry to school. In third year I was attacked by Harry's insane godfather. Last year I was trapped underwater for just being Harry's friend while he got glory and more fame.

I decided that this year would be different. I was tired of being used like a door mat. I was just sick of it all. My breaking point was catching Harry and Hermione kissing. I guess I should have seen the signs. They were always together. They tended to leave me out of plans. They shared secret jokes. I was so certain that I was falling in love with Hermione. So blinded by my own emotions that I didn't notice what was in front of me.

My opportunity to get away couldn't have come sooner. Of course Harry would do something stupid and dangerous. Of course he would want me and Hermione to support him. Like a good friend, that's what I did. As a person tired of being pushed around, that's when I changed sides.

Lucius Malfoy was surprisingly eager to take me back with him. After Bellatrix Lestrange killed Sirius Black, during all the chaos, Lucius grabbed me and apparated back to his manor. I realise it makes no sense as to why he would do that. I switched out the orbs while everyone was distracted, I suppose it was because I told him that I had the real orb.

Voldemort returned not long after Lucius chained me to a wall. Which was really unnecessary and a little disheartening considering I probably just saved that blonde grit. It was, however awkward to admit, satisfying to watch as Voldemort threw a few curses at the man. The smile that was unknowingly etched on my face dropped when I saw the grit's son walk in.

"Draco Malfoy. Would have reconned you were at Hogwarts." I deadpanned and sighed.

"Could say the same thing to you Weasel."

"I have some business to attend." I shrugged.

"Cut the crap weasel. Everyone knows you're the best friend to the 'saviour'." Draco sighed.

"Were."

"What?"

"You said, "you're" as in you are. It's you were. Not present tense." Draco frowned at me and I rolled my eyes. "Your father might not have gotten the chance to say anything yet. I have the orb Voldemort here was after. Why else would your father bring me here. It serves no logical explanation."

"How?" Draco frowned more.

"I told him. How else would he have known. Now can these chains be removed." I deadpanned.

Voldemort looked at me as if trying to read my mind. I learnt rather quickly that that was exactly what he was doing. A sharp pain raidiated in my mind as I felt him probe through my thoughts. I gritted my teeth in pain as I let him confirm what I just said. He dug deeper as he accessed my earliest memories of Harry. After what felt like years the pain subsided and I was able to breathe properly again.
