Cassidy's P.O.V

I have Biology with Katalina and we sat together. It was the first time all year that I wasn't siting alone, and even my teacher was surprised.

When class was over we swapped numbers and headed off the our other lessons. I was over the moon and nothing could put me down.

"Hey slut." Even that, Luke called me from his locker and I tried to ignore him. "See you made a friend. Well let me tell you. You're only friend is me. We're best buds right?" He ruffled my hair and pushed my head back.

I turned on my heel and walked off. I was really not in the mood for Luke Robert Hemmings.

"Get back here you stupid bitch!" He shouted, but I continued walking and stuck my middle finger behind my head. I have never had that much courage before. I'm so proud of myself.

I met my Mum by the library as always and we drove home.

When we reached the house my Mum led me to the kitchen.

"Honey, we need to talk." She put her bags on the kitchen table and pulled out a seat for me. I gulped. The last time this happened, my dad moved to Brazil.

"You know that Papa is helping us pay the rent for this house right?" I nodded. He was a huge help. "Well he is getting remarried and cannot continue to pay for us."

"What? How could he do that to us. He knows you're retired! I can't believe him." I screamed.

My dad has been dating a Brazilian girl for the last 5 years. She was pretty enough. Not as beautiful as my Mum but alright looking. Nice too. I'm happy for him. But we are really stuck for money and it is incredibly selfish to just cut us off like this.

"What are we going to do?"

"Well unfortunately we have to give up the house. I found a beautiful apartment nearby and I've made an offer. We will know by tomorrow whether we have it or not."

Huh? Give up the house?

"We can't give up this fucking house!" I screeched. "Have you any idea how many memories we have here? I was born in this very room! You can't make me leave."

I was infuriated. She expects me to just leave everything behind? Every memory of my father that I have left? Gone.

"Honey theirs nothing I can do. We are broke. You're going to have to get a job and so am I. We have no choice. It's either we leave, or they throw us out."

I sighed. I hated to admit it but Mum was right. We were broke. We depended on my dad to pay the taxes like he said he would. Without that we have nothing.

I sucked in a deep breath and looked around me.

"We really have to leave?" I whispered with tears in my eyes.

"I'm so sorry baby."

I hugged my Mum and whispered " You have nothing to apologise for. You're doing great.

~The next day~

We were both perched on the sofa waiting for a call from the land lord. We jumped when we heard the phone ring and fumbled with the buttons until we finally pressed the right one.

"Hello? Yes. Uhuh. Great. Oh. Really? I see. Thanks. See you soon. Bye bye bye bye yeah bye." My Mum put on a serious face.

"WE GOT IT!" She cheered and I hugged her. "We move in on Thursday. That's in 3 days. We need to start packing."

I had mixed emotions.

We spent the next 3 days off school, packing frantically for our move. This was very exciting for both of us but hard too.
