Chapter 1

"Okay fine" Bright agrees to marry Josh. What’s the point in fighting with his mom now? It’s going to be held against him like always, and he’d rather do this than attend every function and event where he being asked why he’s still single and not married. At the age of 22 Bright is already feeling tired and exhausted from everyone and everything. And frankly it doesn't really matter whomever he is going to marry to save his father's company. He works enough as a scientist and not stay in the house much anyway. He got enough friends with whom he can spend time, away from home too as long as Josh, his future husband who is ten years older than him is not being awful to him, he can get through it. 

Bright mother, Pam eyes widen in shock as she confirmed with her son "fine..as in ...you’ll marry Josh". Bright nods saying "Yeah, I’ll do it. If it helps our company merging together and I can do something to save our business then I’ll do it. But then don’t say I never do anything for you though".

Pam laughs incredulously at Bright saying "I wouldn’t dare. Thank you, Bright. I know this is a lot to just throw on you, but between your father dying and trying to keep the company working I was at a loss. When Josh Father offered this condition, it’s at least worth seeing what they’re offering in return... right?". Bright nods slowly repeating "It’s worth seeing what they offer in return" Worst comes to the worst if the offer falls through and if this marriage doesn’t go ahead then atleast he’s not exactly going to be heartbroken like before. Bright then said "Rest I’m leaving it to you though, just let me know what’s happening. The contracts aren’t my specialty anyway".

Pam walks around the kitchen island and kisses Bright's head. Bright was surprised he doesn't remember the last time his mother kissed him this affectionately. Perhaps when he was a little child, but it was certainly a rare occurrence in his life. Pam must be in real trouble to be this relieved or maybe Bright really is a 22 yo nightmare  for her who just argues with everything his mother says. Maybe it was a relief that Bright didn’t start a fight or protest against her decision. Either way he's now agreed to it, it’s not like he already signed a contract though he still got few  days time to back out.

After hearing about the company's bad condition and merger Bright doesn’t pretend to understand these things. He just knows his part to do and decided to leaves the rest to his mother and to their lawyers perhaps. He heard and read a bit about Josh and his company not anything glorious or much good, but he too probably got a similar reputation so he knows it's alright not to judge someone else too when he's on the same boat.

This arrangement would work well in their favour actually if both of the company merge. Also he didn't expect to act head over heels in love with Josh. Everybody in their circle will come to know why they’ve this marriage when their company merge. But the main things is it will also stops Bright from looking elsewhere. He'll just shows his wedding ring and tells that he’s taken. It eliminates all temptation who annoys him often. A few of his friends went into arranged marriages, to keep the bloodlines good so they don’t end up running off with some low life calibre and don’t stain the bloodline. In their society  and circle who you get married is more important than your happiness. Bright had already figured out this a long time ago.

If only Bright wanted to fight it, but realistically it was expected of him sooner or later to go into an arranged marriage where he knows nothing about the other person, being legally bound to someone just to save his Dad's company and get a good deal, it was good enough reason. But then who else is going to marry him? Nobody, ...probably. Bright doesn’t see the point  to be in love with anyone. Why would he willingly let himself fall for someone when the love he’s ever had has left him in pain, either by leaving him for other or by dying. He doesn’t want to get hurt anymore. He doesn’t even want the option of falling for anyone.  Also at some point he might have to have a child with Josh, and if that included in the part of their marriage contract then he guess he wouldn’t be opposing to that he’s not against having sex with Josh or anyone,  he just doesn’t want to fall in love.

Bright father died five years ago he was still an teenager and completing his studies still unsure of the circumstances and tried not to think too hard about the plane crash that brought everything down in his life. That time neither him nor his mother anticipated of having to take over the company so soon. Bright has been preparing his whole life to get the baseline knowledge about it but instead he prefers to be the scientist for his living.

Gulf was Bright's collegue and good friend he ask when they were having lunch together "Is this something you really want to do Bright". Gulf is not from a world like Bright is, so he finds the whole thing very strange when Bright informed him about marrying Josh to merger their company to save it.  Bright would probably find it strange too if he wasn’t half expecting of it. His parents were in an arranged marriage, and they always said it worked out well for them. Bright shrugs saying "I don’t really care to be honest whether I get married or not. Everything will be good as long as Josh is not an awful person. I’m sure I can tolerate him few hours in a day". Gulf ask in return "And if he is an awful person then what?".  Bright took a moment and said "I’m a scientist I’m sure I can find some way to kill him without any trace". Gulf raises his champagne glass smirking in cheers. Bright clinks their glass with a small smile. Now Bright just  wait and see what store in their marriage contract  for him.

A day before meeting the lawyer about their marriage contract Pam seems restless. Bright knew there was something his mother was not telling him but he can’t quite figure out exactly what it is. So Bright threatened his mom "I’m not agreeing to it unless you tell me what’s wrong". It's the last thing Pam wanted from Bright to back off she quietly said "It’s nothing to do with you, don’t worry Bright. Just... when I’m gone or I don’t have a say in the company anymore, promise me you’ll always do what’s best, not what’s easiest or whatever Josh says. Promise me you'll always take care of our company" Bright frown hearing his mother he ask "What do you mean? We're just merging our company and not selling them.  You and I will do everything to save our company".

Pam nods his head but distress was visible on her face she spoke "Yes, We will, but again, Please make sure you do what’s best for company. Josh Father isn’t confident if Josh will always have the companies best interests in mind". Bright took a pause hearing that. In all honesty, Bright can’t see himself running the company in future and his intentions were to just leave company to his mom and after her to Josh. Bright doesn't have any objections either if  Josh wants to sell it when they have full control. Bright really can’t see himself caring all that much about this but he can't tell this to his mother though. Pam will have a heart attack. Bright then stated "Don’t worry Mom, I’ll do what I feel is best at the time". It was an broad statement If Bright feels that Josh selling the company  for the best then that’s what he’ll do as long as he gets his fair amount of share. Pam nods her head  but she still doesn’t look fully convinced with Bright assurance.

This story will be angsty and little smutty as I know many of my Readers might not feel good taking Bright as bottom and feminine. But don't worry I'll try to keep the book short.
