This is all my fault. I didn't even ask him to explain the details of the contract. I was too blinded by my desire of revenge for that awful entity, and now...
I'm stuck working under a demon; the very thing I loathe, despite being one myself. With a sigh I reach to put on the black mask and hoodie provided for me. Better to do what he says; I'd rather not find out what punishments come from a creature like that.
The hoodie was slightly big but snug as I pulled it over my torso. I went to place the mask over my face, but before doing so, something caught my eye. A small black device was present at the end on the masks beak. A tracker? Maybe not, but I wasn't about to mess about with it to find out; after all I don't want to make the demon upset. I placed the mask on my face, trying not to think too hard about the device. I could see my partial reflection in the mirror above the fire place. It was large with a dull golden frame, the warm amber glow of the fire making it glint ever so slightly. It was placed pretty high up since the fire place was quite large, and I had to stand on my toes to be able to see my masked features. I looked a little... odd? It was hard to distinguish my gender with the baggy hoodie and bird mask. I could probably be mistaken for a boy, if it wasn't for my voice, that is.
A knocking on the wooden door shook me from my thoughts, along with the roar that the door gave as it was opened. In walked three men; the one in the middle wore a black ski mask, with a red frown stitched into it and he was wearing a yellow hoodie; it somehow seemed familiar to me. He was the tallest and I made a metal note of the gun which rested itself in the holster attached to his belt. The one on the left had some steam punk fashioned googled on. they held an orange tint and were situated atop his shaggy copper hair and a grey mouth guard clung to his face. He was the shortest but I wasn't sure if it was because he was actually short or because his skinny frame held a slight slouch. He would twitch from time to time also. The final one on the left had a threatening aura. He wore a white mask, with black feminine features adorning the eyes and lips. His dark brown nearly black hair, messy and unkept. He sported a tan jacket and stood in front of me with a stance that said 'I'm bored'.
I gulped. Three very intimidating men, all towering above me. Were these the other servants?
"We've been told you're the newest servant to join the ranks."
A deep voice coming from the one in the yellow hoodie was directed towards me; it didn't sound naturally deep though, more distorted and off putting. A voice changer maybe?
I gulped and nodded at his statement. He continued,
"Let's make the formalities brief, then we'll quickly show you around the place. I don't have all day to be babysitting some newbie, so don't ask any questions."
This guy was making fear shoot up and down my spine at an alarming rating. I could already tell he was going to make my life a nightmare.
~
The three men took me on a quick tour of the manor we were in. Apparently in was situated between dimensions, whatever that means. Only those who have the specific symbol - the circle with the x through it - on their body, may enter. Others may only enter of the condition that they are being escorted by someone with this symbol. My mind flashes to the image of my scarred hand.
The residents of this place were famous urban legends known as 'creepypasta'. They were mostly formed of murders and supernatural beings. There was apparently a lot of them in the world, but only the really infamous ones lived in the manor. It was like a level of security for them.
The guy in the yellow - whose name I found out to be hoodie - explained this to me as he made me follow him around the slightly dilapidating halls. The wallpaper was peeling and there was dust on every surface. It made me inwardly gag. I noticed, however, that the office I was in previously was a lot cleaner and fancy looking, but I guess nothing but the best for the top dog.
I stayed quiet, occasionally nodding as hoodie told me about the manor and how they were going to train me. The other two - whose names I learned were masky and Ticci Toby - also stayed quite. Toby would occasionally twitch and masky would grumble curses under his breath about how "this is fucking stupid" or, "why do I have to tag along." I could feel my body shrink into itself, I felt like I was making trouble for these guys right off the bat. Other residents would walk by us, but I was too afraid to look in their direction in fear of starting some sort of confrontation.
~
We finally ended the tour in the main hallway. I was relieved it was over, and as was evident, so were the others.
"You haven't told us your name yet, sunshine."
The masked man still sounded bored as he asked; shit, was I supposed to have a cool nickname too?
I felt sweat on my forehead, I'm not sure if it was from how stuffy this mask was or the intimidating aura surrounding those three.
"U-uh -"
I froze. Why does my voice sound deep as fuck right now?
I couldn't tell the emotions of the three men in front of me. I had no time to prepare my mind before my mouth blurted out, in an altered but monotonous voice;
"Death bringer."
It's like I didn't even think about it. The name was sitting in my subconscious and I just spoke it.
Guess it's the device in the mask altering my voice. Why would I need a voice changer though? Does the voice of a succubus give off allure too?
"L-l-looks like w-w we've got another voice changer freak, heh."
The twitching boy spoke for the first time, his voice had a cheeky tone to it, but rather than being playfully childish, it sounded more like a taunts of a bully.
Hoodie smacked him upside the head, making him jerk forward but not react much more than that. The two of them walked out the room, Toby throwing teasing insults at hoodie trying to get a reaction out of him, but the hooded man not making a sound as they both walked away. Leaving only me and masky.
"Welcome to the manor, Mr. Death."
With that he also walked by me out of the room, purposely bumping my shoulder with his in a not so friendly manner.
Mr? Guess I do sound like a boy now.
I sighed.
This is a long way just for revenge.
A/N: sorry for the wait, life has been extremely hectic! This was mostly expositional stuff, sorry bout that as well but hope you guys enjoys anyway!
