I woke up with a pounding headache, and after trying to get up, realized I was in an unfamiliar place. I then heard Matt’s voice and saw him walking towards me.

    “Good morning.”

It took me a couple of seconds to respond.

    “Good morning…” I groaned.

“I think your drink was spiked, Sasha. You blacked out. You’re in my apartment on my couch.”

“Oh.” This was a lot to take in at… “What time is it?”

    “7:15.”

    At 7:15 a.m.

“I’ll go get you some water, we can get some food if you’re hungry.”

“Matt.” I asked. “How did I get here?”

He looked back at me and paused for a moment.

“I- uh, Foggy and I carried you.”

“Okay.” Something wasn’t adding up, but I was too fucked up to care.

“Let’s go get McDonald’s.”

“Whatever you say.” He chuckled.

Luckily, we were within walking distance of a McDonalds. Shady people loitered there at night, but it was tame in the daytime. That’s Hell’s Kitchen for you. We didn’t talk very much on the way there, just enjoyed each other’s company. It made me happy whenever he held onto my arm when we were walking alone. He could just use his cane, but he wanted to hold onto my arm instead. Before long, I was holding onto his arm instead, slightly nuzzling into him. After a bit, he smiled and asked if we were there yet.

In embarrassment, I let go quickly and said yes and apologized. We went inside, ordered and sat down.

“I think someone had their eye on you last night.”

“Matt. We’re not at work, there’s no need to go investigate things like that.” I laughed.

“Sasha, I’m serious. Foggy… told me… that someone was looking at you funny, and didn’t you leave to go to the bathroom?”

I was starting to get scared. “Yeah, I did. But I thought Foggy was watching my drink for me!”

“I’m afraid that may not be what happened.”

“But Josie’s is safe! No one would do something like that there, right?” I exclaimed.

“Sasha, Calm down. We just won’t go there for a while, okay? Besides, I have a strong feeling that man won’t be doing anything like that again.”

Here he goes again with that cryptic message. “What do you mean by that Matt? You’ve been acting weird like that lately.”

“Just an educated guess. Oh, there’s our order number.”

I sighed, and stood up to get our order. He really was a mysterious man. I guess it would take a while before he told me what was going on, but I was fine with it. Maybe I didn’t want to know. I still couldn’t help myself from being curious though.
