REBECCA'S POV
I'd just been heading to the kitchen to help the girl's with lunch when I'd caught a snippet of a conversation.
"The fragments are too deep, I'm not going to be able to get them out without sedation." It was Hershel speaking, I hadn't spoken to the man myself, but according to Lori he wasn't as scary as he first seemed.
"What are you going to do? He's...he's going to be alright though, right?" Lori said, sounding panicked. She went to step forwards, but her husbands arms tightened around her keeping her in place.
"If I can get the medical equipment I need, then he should be fine."
I kept quiet, just listening to what they were saying. It wasn't a conversation I should get involved in, after all. It had nothing to do with me. Besides, if I even offered to help I'd get told by pretty much everyone that I shouldn't go. That it's too dangerous. It's like they all forget that I'm a Dixon, that this world is far less frightening than the world I lived in as a child.
It only took a few minutes before both Shane and Otis had volunteered to go and everyone had gone to do whatever needed doing. I, on the other hand, was off to find Shane, I was going on that trip whether they liked it or not, but it was best to ask first, if I can do it lawfully then that's best.
"When're you thinking of heading off?" I asked, knowing he'd know exactly what I was talking about.
"About twenty minutes, why?" He asked, stopping from packing the truck to look at me, head half cocked and his thumb stuck through his belt loop, his signature position.
"I wanted to come with, that's all."
"No." He said, clearly intent on continuing. "There's gonna be walkers all over the show, it'll be too dangerous. I already got to look after Otis over there, I don't need to look after you too."
I was going to open my mouth, say something back to him, but I thought better of it. His rejection wasn't going to stop me, I knew that, and I knew that he knew that too.
"If you follow us, Becca, I swear-" He called after me as I walked off.
"It's Becky." I wasn't going to bother asking what he 'swore' there was no point. I'd find out soon enough.
It's short, I know, and it took a long time to upload, I know, I'm sorry <3
I'm going to try and upload every Wednesday though. *dontholdmetoit*
