It was a Wednesday, not much was happening and most of the American people where glued to their TV screens which was not that unusual for the most part. Except for that day; that wonderful, yet completely average day would be one for the history books.
It's been five years since the legendary thief and killer Bonnie Rowan got herself caught and locked up after six years of being on the run, with known mafia princess Lyann Schanda at her side. Five years after she had suddenly plead guilty at her trial, which everyone knew was just a formality. She was going to get the death penalty no matter what anyone said. But no one knew why she had just plead guilty right off the bat not even trying to get a least prison or to prolong her sentencing to try to come up with some sort of defense, or why she hadn't even bothered with asking for a lawyer which would have been her best bet at survival. No one knew much of anything because she refused to clarify any of her mysterious and vague "answers" she gave to anybody, least of all the ones she gave to the police.
"Ms. Rowan, this your last day before your sentence is carried out. Any requests?" asked her favorite guard Louie.
"A glass of water would be nice, please and thank you, Louie," Bonnie, answered calmer than any woman nearing death bed had any right be.
"Ms. Rowan, I'm shocked and grateful that you finally decided to unveil the true story of what landed you behind bars with us at Wolf News!" A young male reporter said. "I think I speak not only on the behalf of Wolf News, but most of the world, if not all of it, as to we want to know everything that happened! Lyann and yourself were all over news and every magazine for weeks. The crimes you both had committed together and separately will live on forever in infamy. So please, we've all been dying to know, what really happened in your trial? How were those six years with Lyann? And most of all; how did you get caught?"
Louie walked in with Bonnie's water and handed it to her at that exact moment. He shared a look with Bonnie, silently making fun of how dramatic the reporter was. Bonnie rolled her eyes and gave Louie a look meaning a clear I know.
"Thank you, Louie."
"You're welcome, Ms. Rowan."
Louie walked away from her and stood at his place guarding the door. He knew Bonnie wouldn't try anything. For some reason, it had always felt like she here because she wanted to be, not because she was dragged here in chains with fifteen other women. Almost everyone believed that sort of was, the government couldn't touch her for years and they didn't know where she was for months at a time they had to resort to magazines, that constantly had her and Lyann's pictures in them but only after they had committed the crimes, to try and pinpoint her. But when they caught her she just sat there waiting for them, not even trying to hide. Or at least, that's what Louie had heard. No one really knew what caused her to get caught or how it happened. What he did know was that she never fought the guards or caused problems, she was always polite, and she never forgot her p's and q's when talking to anyone- as if that was going to help her here.
"Umm, Ms. Rowan?"
Bonnie looked up at the reporter in confusion, forgetting momentarily where she was and what she was doing. She was distracted trying to figure out what Louie was thinking about. Out of the 10 guards in the room, herself, and that ridiculous "reporter", Louie was certainly one of the most interesting people in the room besides her for at least for the moment but soon it will be her turn.
"Mm, Yes?"
"Our interview?"
Bonnie took a sip of the water she just handed and give the reporter a look of meaning "Could you wait just a moment?"
"Ah yes, our interview... Oh goodness, where should I begin? Five years have passed since my sentencing it feels like a lifetime ago, but in a way it also feels like it just was yesterday. How do I even begin to tell my story?"
"Maybe starting at the beginning would be best and then work yourself through?"
"Aw yes the beginning," Bonnie said smiling fondly at a memory. "What a great place to start."
