Harry

"Last first day of school, boys! Breakfast is almost ready"

Harry sighed into his pillow. His alarm went off twice thus far, but it was something he could turn off, pretend it never happened. Once his mom called, however, it was game over: he had to get up.

"Yes, mom!", Harry knew if he didn't reply, she'd be up in his room dragging him out of bed herself. Shortly after, he heard his brother's voice from his room across the hallway.

In their old house, Harry and his twin Liam used to share a room. They had a bunk bed in a room with awful green walls. Something both meanwhile cringed at for keeping it like that for so long. It was always a chaos of their sports clothes, Harry's drawings, and Liam's books and not to forget their 'wall of fame'. A collection of their sports prizes over the years, most of them were medals for getting first place with their school's baseball team.

But now each of them had their own, something their parents insisted on when they moved four years ago. In their eyes, their two sons would soon appreciate having their own space. A hypothesis that still awaits to be proven true. Most days Harry stayed in Liam's room, even slept there. Only just during this last summer break, he started to stay in his room more, for reasons he'd rather keep to himself. His standardized "you talk in your sleep, it's annoying"-excuse though was enough for Liam to not question it.

Harry's room was smaller than the one from his brother, but he had a little balcony. Nothing big. It only fit a chair and a bird's house, but the boy loved it. He loved sitting outside after a long day with his friends or whenever he couldn't sleep at night or when he just needed a moment to himself.

Right now, he wouldn't love anything more than to go back to sleep, get tea once he'd eventually wake up again, and just sit out there all day long-

"Aye! I don't hear any water running", Anne's voice interrupted Harry's daydream. He took another deep breath, looked away from the inviting balcony door, and let his eyes drift over to the door next to it: his bathroom.

Fresh clothes under his arm and with only one eye open he stumbled into said bathroom and only generous ten minutes later back out again.

On his way downstairs he grabbed his bag, closed his door, and waited for Liam to leave his room- his twin looking just as tired as he felt- so that they could join their mom at the same time.

"Over 17 years later and you two are still glued together", was all they were greeted with before each of them was handed a plate with toast and scrambled eggs. "Anyways, I'll be home by 4, so will your dad, but with such lovely weather I'm sure you two won't be home before us", she grabbed her car keys, "love you, don't do anything stupid!". She gave each of them a kiss on their hair before leaving them alone in the house.

About an hour later Harry was being tortured with numbers. Math as the first class of the year and from now on the start of every week too?! A personal new nightmare of his.

He was sitting at the back of the class, next to him his best friend beside Liam; Zayn. Zayn had been with him for as long as they can remember, growing up in the same neighborhood basically made them brothers too. His black hair was freshly cut and after his three-week stay in Italy, his skin was perfectly tanned.

"What's your next class?", he now asked Harry. They were currently comparing their timetables, while the teacher was explaining his grading system. Something about irregular tests beside their normal exams. Wonderful.

"English, then Chemistry and Art right before lunch", the curly-headed one sighed. Out of all the subjects he had, chemistry was his least favourite, he could neither stand the teacher nor all the math that came along with it. But most importantly: none of his friends would have it this year. He'd be on his own.
