Chapter 14: Dinner

"Everything's done," sabi ni mommy ng ilapag niya ang ang chicken sa gitna ng table. They arrived fom states 2 days ago, because its sembreak already. And dad wants us to bond especially now that ate is free, we are complete.

Mommy will be staying here while daddy will be back at states after the sembreak ends, as well as ate.

Ate Charlie studies abroad, she's taking her master's degree and she's helping the company there with dad. Huminto kasi siya from taking her master's degrees when she found out that she's pregnant, that was 6 years ago.

"What's for dinner tita sheina?" Dane, my ever so cute pamangkin. Kinarga ko naman siya at pumunta kami sa kitchen.

"Chicken, chopseuy, and leche flan for dessert." Inupo ko na siya, and I seated as well.

"Alyanna, where's your sister?" Sabi ni daddy na nakaupo na.

"Im here!" Dumating si ate at umupo sa tabi ni dane.

"Asan si mommy?" tanong ni ate.

"Lumabas siya, may kumatok kasi." sabi ni daddy.

"Kuya Ashton!" biglang bumaba si dane sa upuan niya. Napatingin naman kami, si mommy kasama si ashton that is holding a box of cake. Why is he here?

Lumapit naman agad ako, "bakit ka nandito?" tanong ko habang karga karga niya si dane.

"I invited him, baby." sabi ni mommy, "ashton, take a sit."

"Thank you, tita." napalunok naman siya ng napatingin siya kay daddy, "good evening, sir, ate Charlie." Tumango lang si daddy.

"Hi ashton, long time no see!" sabi ni ate.

Umupo na kami and started eating. "kelan ka in-invite ni mommy?" I whispered.

"Kanina lang, she texted me." tumango na lang ako.

"So ashton how's school?" tanong ni mommy.

"Okay lang naman po, tita." then Ashton smiled.

Medyo kinakabahan ako, kasi si daddy tahimik. But mommy's enlightening the mood kaya medyo napanatag ako.

We we're all finish eating so we headed to the living room with some chitchats and all.

When suddenly, tinawag ako ni mommy, "Alyanna, can you get my glasses upstairs?" tumango na lang ako and headed upstairs. "Nandiyan lang 'yan, wag kang bumaba dito ng hindi mo nakikita!"

ASHTON DALE

The moment Yanna was out of sight tita Caroline called my attention.

"Ashton, can I talk to you?"

"Sige po." lumabas kami sa garden and seated there.

"How's the courtship?" matawa-tawang tanong ni tita. "Masyado ka bang pinaghihintay ng baby ko?"

"She's worth the wait, tita." tita smiled. Im saying the truth, Yanna is worth the wait.

"Pagpasensyahan mo na ha? She's dealing with herself." napakunot ang noo ko.

"You see, Alyanna was left by his childhood sweetheart, as some call it." tita chuckled, "Few years ago." tita continued. "she's afraid that she'll make a decision that'll will make her regret once that 'childhood sweetheart' comeback. She's afraid that he'll hurt you more. Alyanna may look like a strong person outside, but he has this very soft heart. Lagi niyang inaalala yung nga taong nasa paligid niya. Hurting someone is not her thing."

Hindi ko alam kung bakit sinasabi sakin ni tita 'to but, im happy to hear those words. Knowing that she is afraid of hurting me like I am to her.

"Give her more time. Ikaw na lang ang nakakapagbantay diyan whenever we are out of the country. Kaya panatag ako na even if we're not present, someone's looking after our baby."

"Babalik na ako sa loob, baka hinahanap niya pa rin yung salamin na nasa bulsa ko."

"Thank you, tita. Ill always take care of her." Tumango lang si tita, at bumalik na sa loob while I stayed for few more minutes smiling like an idiot.

I was about to stand up para makapasok na ng may humawak sa balikat ko, "Ashton."

"S-sir."

"I want to talk to you." Tumango na lang ako bilang sagot. Lumakad ng kaunti si tito but he stayed standing, kaya ganon na din ang ginawa ko.

"The last talk we had, is when you ask permission for courting Alyanna, am i right?"

"Yes, sir."

"Its been 7 months, and ill say this to you again. Don't you dare hurt Alyanna."

"I can never promise that sir." Biglang tumingin sa'kin si tito, "but I will always be sure that i will never hurt Yanna, Intentionally." I heard tito sighed.

"I dont know about Alyanna's decision. But, you should both focus on your studies, still." Tumango ako, ibig sabihin ba okay na siya sa'kin? as in?

"Thank you sir." Pumasok na agad si tito sa loob.

"Ashton."

"Yanna ko." i replied.

"Bakit ka nandito?"

"Nothing, tumawag si mommy kinausap ko lang."

"Uwi ka na? Late na din naman kasi." i take a look at my watch, its almost 8:30.

"I think I should." pumasok na kami sa loob at nagpaalam na.

"Thank you for the dinner tita, and thank you." sabi ko at niyakap si tita.

"This will not be the last, okay?"

"Ofcourse, tita." Hinatid ako ni Yanna hanggang gate.

"Good-" she was cut off, when I hugged her. I huriedly pulled back.

"Thank you," sabi ko, bigla ko nanamang naalala 'yung sinabi ni tita kanina. "Goodnight, Yanna ko. Bye." i kissed her forehead and drove home with a big smile on my face.
