As I watched the boxes leave the factory, I was met with conflicting emotions. I was excited and nervous at the same time. I may find an heir, but at the same time, I may not. I wringed my hands together nervously before walking back towards the chocolate room. As I strolled down the hallway, I noticed a slim figure staring at my factory. I stopped and stared back even though they couldn't see me. I'm pretty sure it's a girl. Maybe a young woman because of her long, curly brown hair.
Almost every day, she would just stand outside the gates and stare. She was too far away, so I could never truly see her face. At first, I was convinced that she was a spy for one of those copycat candy making cads, and was just surveying my factory, looking for the perfect opportunity to sneak in and steal my recipes. One day, I decided to leave my gates open for a little bit longer during a delivery day just to see what she would do. When she noticed this, it looked like she was practically jumping up and down with excitement. She had begun walking across the street and past the gates, but then she suddenly stopped. I could see her shake her head, almost sadly before taking a deep breath and looking down at the ground.
Needless to say, she passed my test. It was clear she wasn't a spy. A spy would have taken that opportunity in a heartbeat. It seemed she was just curious about my factory and overtime, I had found myself become curious about her. Who was she? Why does she stand there and stare at my factory when others just rush on by? Why won't she come a bit closer? At that train of thought, I scowled.
I don't need her to come a bit closer, I need an heir. I can't afford to get distracted right now. I readjusted my hat and continued making my way towards the chocolate room.
