Finally the day that UA finally opens its doors to the new students was here. The old students got into their uniforms like usual but the new ones were feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. Of course they would they were going to one of the most prestigious schools in the world.
Deku had once again not got a wink of sleep. This was normal to him though so he didn't really bother feeling sorry for himself. He quickly put his work clothes on and ate a small breakfast and by this time it was only 7. He still technically had over an hour to do whatever he wanted before he had to leave but he decided on getting there early.
Since it was early he decided not many people would see him so once he got a good distance away from his base he started jumping on roofs. Honestly he loved the feeling of jumping on roofs even if he wouldn't admit it. It was just so peaceful to him. Suddenly he noticed a black haired man.
"Hey Aizawa." Deku said jumping down from a building.
"Jesus kid where'd you come from?"
"Up there." He said pointing to the buildings he was previously running on.
Aizawa sighed. "You know that dangerous right? And illegal." Aizawa said deadpan.
"You know I'm immortal right and I'm a vigilante, or was I guess what makes you think I care about the law when it comes to stupid stuff like that?" Deku asked.
Aizawa chuckled. "Who knows. Where do you plan to be when everything starts anyway?"
"Hmm?"
"Obviously Nezu will be doing orientation but I like to have a more eventful start to the year." Aizawa smiled his shit eating grin. This wasn't something for Deku to miss.
"Well orientation is probably going to be too boring. I'll join you. It'll be a good time to analyse your class more closely anyway."
Eventually they both made it to the school. Aizawa headed straight for the teachers lounge hoping to get in some more down time before he had to deal with the new mess of students. Deku obviously joined him. He poured a coffee for the older hero which he took gladly. "Aren't you going to have one?"
"Not in front of you. I'm not about to let you see my face." Deku said.
"Alright then."
Soon there was five minutes until class began so Aizawa reluctantly got off the sofa and Deku followed him to class 1A. He walked with a practised almost marchlike stance unlike Aizawa who was practically dead on his feet. Finally they got to class 1A and Aizawa stepped into a bright yellow sleeping bag. Deku didn't know where he got it from but he decided to watch what was happening with an amused smile, though no one would be able to tell.
The students continued to talk amongst themselves until finally someone noticed him.
"Ah! What is that!"
Everyone turned their attention to the door and watched Aizawa as he stepped back out of his sleeping bag. "5 minutes. That's how long I was there for. I shouldn't have to wait this long for you all to stop talking. You aren't here to make friends." He said darkly. "Anyway go put on your P.E. outfits and meet me outside."
"But sir what about orientation."
"As UA teachers we get to do whatever we want with you if we think it'll make you better heros orientation is pointless." He says and leaves them to get changed.
Once they all get onto the field Aizawa scolds them again for taking so long. Deku rolls his eyes. 'Of course they're going to take a while they just started.' But he knew that he was just being hard on them so they could be the best the can be. Then Aizawa explains what they're doing. He asks Bakugou to go to the front since he got the highest score and to throw a ball using his quirk. The spikey haired teen grabbed the ball with a blank look and made his way over to the starting line. He looks at the ball for a second before getting into stance and then finally throwing the the ball yelling "DIE". 'Well, that part of him hasn't changed Deku thought with a bored look on his face. The rest of the class looked shocked at Bakugou's word choise but quickly got over it with excitement at the possiblility of using their quirks.
The kid with yellow hair who Deku realised was called Kaminari decided it would be a great idea to say "Hey this is gonna be easy!" obviously unaware that their teacher was a bit of a sadist.
"Oh? You think this is going to be easy do you? Alright, whoever gets last in this test will be judged as without potential and will be expelled from the course."
"WHAT?" practically the entire class yelled with some deviations.
"That can't be allowed." The student Deku knew as Shinso said.
"Like I said, as teachers we are allowed to do whatever we want with our classes. That includes expelling people if we see it fit. Welcome to the UA hero course." Aizawa said with a shit eating grin.
Deku sighed loudly. "Really on their first day?"
"Of course, you of all people know how hard it is when it comes to being a hero on the actual streets." Aizawa said with a bored voice.
"Vigilante and I guess you're right..." 'But they're here to learn...' Deku thought silently.
"Hey there was never a good time to bring it up so I guess I'll ask now but who is that?" The green haired girl asked, Tsuyu. Deku looked to Aizawa who shrugged as if to say 'Go on introduce yourself.'
Deku sighed again. "I am Deku-" Bakugou's eyes immediately shot to him as he heard the famillier nickname, "I have been hired here as a bodyguard to the student body. And since the hero class is usually the one getting in the most interesting situations... You can expect to see me a lot." The whole class looked at him with confusion which was understandable considering. Why would a hero school and especially a hero course student need extra protection? "I can tell you all have questions, the quicker we get those over with the quicker we can start so ask away I guess."
The class erupted into yells all melding together so no one could be heard, Deku quickly had enough. "Alright stop!" he said only just slightly above his normal talking voice yet he was still somehow heard. "Just put your hands up and I'll answer a few questions, then we get onto the test."
He first picked Yaoyorozu "Why are you guarding this place? Surely the teachers here are enough." she said.
Deku looked towards Aizawa as if to ask if it was okay to say. "Go for it, they already kind of know."
"Alright, the thing is with All Might joining is that while him being here is protection in of itself it can also be a detriment. With such a prominent figure there is no doubt that there are people with ill intent that wish to topple his empire. I'm basically insurance in that instance. Plus I have healing capabilities so that will help UA too." The class was in awe though Deku was awkwardly brushing it off and instead picked the next person, Ashido.
"So who actually are you? Like what did you do before this. I've never seen you on any hero leaderboard."
"Okay first off, just because you've never heard of a hero doesn't mean that they aren't a strong hero. And second I was what I still am, a bodyguard and a vigilante." the class gasped. Normally vigilantes were met with vitriol in the media and heros would speak against them so for one to be in a hero school was unimaginable to most of them.
Soon the only person with their hand up was Bakugou so as much as he wanted to avoid Deku couldn't anymore. "Yes Bakugou?"
"Why is your name Deku?" He asked staring right in Deku's eyes.
"It's just a name." Deku said dully. Bakugou tried searching for anything in the answer but all he saw was a frightening numbness. The spikey haired teen tutted and stopped searching for anything. Finally the test began.
