The test quickly began after all of the questions were asked. While sceptical the class was generally okay with Deku's presence, Iida didn't like it much after all he was a stickler for the rules but the rest were indifferent and some even thought he was kinda cool.

Deku analysed everyone the entire time. Of course he understood that the threat was mostly just that, a threat. One that wouldn't be acted upon if the one at the bottom still had potential but if the person proved to not have potential, the threat would be more like a promise.

Deku was pretty impressed when it came to the first years creativity regarding their quirks. Most of the time throughout elementary to middle school quirks are often not permitted and certainly not to the extent a hero school allows. Of course everyone has a innate feeling with their quirk, natural instinct that allows their powers to manifest and be used but that doesn't mean that they will be used in the best way. That takes practise.

Finally all of the tests were over and all of the points were tallied up. There was Yaoyorozu at the top which Deku expected. From what he knew about her, her quirk required extensive knowledge about just about everything she wanted to make, down to the atoms. An increadibly talented student. She would probably have no trouble with academics and by the looks of things heroics wouldn't be a problem either. Next was Todoroki, then Bakugou, ect.

Finally Deku's eyes landed on last place. Hagakure Toru. Even if he couldn't see it he knew she was crying. He heard the almost silent pitters of tears falling to the ground and she was obviously shaking. The other girls and some of the guys started trying to reassure her but were quickly silenced when Aizawa cleared his throat to get their attention.

"The threat was a lie by the way, a logical ruse. Go get changed, I'll see you all tomorrow." Aizawa said shortly.

Hagakure let out a cry of relief as the class walked. "I thought I was done for!"

"Of course they wouldn't expell someone on the first day." Yaoyorozu said still comforting the invisible girl. "It was just something he said to make sure we do our best."

"Man I almost thought you were done for." Kaminari says, the girls glare at him for saying it so carefree. He quickly recoiled, he wasn't about to make himself the target of the girl's rage.

"Well that was an interesting first day." Mina said.

"Yeah tell me about it." Kirishima remarked. "Hey Bakubro are you okay?" He said noticing the boys far off look.

"The fuck did you just call me?!" Bakugou said with a bit of bite.

"It's just a nickname. But you're thinking about something right? I know we haven't known each other for long but we're going to be classmates for a long time. You can trust us. Sharing your feelings is manly!" Kirishima said with confidence.

"It's- it's nothing. Someone I used to know was called Deku. It was his nickname. It just brought back some bad memories..." Bakugou said, unaware of the vigilante watching him, listening from a distance.

"Was?" Mina asked with a frown.

"He died... Months ago..." Bakugou said quietly. "It was my fault." He said even quieter. Only those with powers that can enhance their hearing heard. None of them spoke up to call him out. Deku especially, he just left.

Deku knocked on the door of Nezu's office. "Come in!" The chemera chirped. "Ah Deku how was your first day?"

"Fine. Aizawa did a test for his class which was interesting. It gave me some time to analyse them more."

"Ah yes he isn't one for messing about with ceremonies." Nezu chuckled. "What do you think about the students?"

"They're promising. And bonding."

"Ah I'm sure Aizawa is loving that." Nezu said with a grin.

Deku chuckled. "Yeah... Hey Nezu have you got a spare gym that I can borrow?"

"Of course. This is a hero school we have tonnes of them. What are you looking for?"

"A punching bag preferably. A general workout if not." Deku said.

"Alright, gym 3 is free, there's punching bags in the storage area. I can show you if you want but it's relatively easy to find."

"Nah it's okay I'll find it." Deku said as he left the room.

Just like Nezu said the storage room was relatively easy to find. He grabbed one of the punching bags. They were reenforced, as expected from a hero school. He hooked the bag up to the chain and got into stance.

He began punching. Why was Bakugou acting like he cared. 'Take a swan dive off a roof.' Why would he care, he never did. He never cared when he would hurt him, he didn't care when he'd beat him to the point of passing out. He didn't care when he told Deku he couldn't be a hero. He didn't care when he told him to die.

"Take a swan dive off a roof."

That's what he said. There was no way to misinterpret it. So now... Why? 'It was his nickname, it brought back some bad memories.' Why was he acting like he cared?! Deku hit the punching bag harder than before.

"He doesn't care. He doesn't care!" He growled under his breath, hitting the bag more wildly. 'He died... Months ago...'

"Why would he care? He told me-"

'Take a swan dive off a roof.'

'It was my fault...'

Deku let out a final yell as he threw his strongest punch. The bag broke and fell to the floor. He breathed heavily, trying to catch his breath. Before he knew it tears were falling out of his eyes.

"Deku?"

"Aizawa?" Deku said with a weak voice.

"Hey kid what's going on?" He said softly.

"Nothing I'm fine!" Deku protested weakly.

"Ah yes because a person who is 'fine' takes out his rage on a punching bag, breaks it and is reduced to tears." Aizawa said, humour lacing his voice. "What's really going on kid?"

Deku stayed silent for a second. 'Should I tell him?' 'Take a swan-' '-My fault...'

"It's nothing Aizawa, I swear. Just a stressful day..." He said with a close eyed smile. Aizawa saw through it though. The tension in his face. The attempt at making the smile a little too bright. The poorly concealed pain. But there was nothing he could do.

Deku went back to his home after that, refusing to hang around Aizawa for any longer than he needed to considering he was one word away from another panic attack. He made his way inside and up to the roof. It was mostly calm, a few sirens here and there but everything was way more quiet up high. His mind was the complete opposite though. Countless thoughts went through his head all pertaining to the same person. Bakugou.

Take a swan dive.

Take a swan dive.

Take a swan dive.

He woke back up at the bottom of the tower, surrounded by a pool of blood. He groaned as he realised what he did. He picked himself up a glared at the pool of blood as if it offended him. He would have to wash it away lest someone find and test it only to realise it comes from a supposedly dead teenager. He grabbed a couple of bottles of water and poured it over the blood mostly washing it away. Hopefully that was enough. As long as you weren't looking for it you wouldn't see it and the natural weather will do the rest.

Little did he know a certain black haired hero was there watching the entire time.
