Mater heard Blaze and Lightning's conversation and was heartbroken. Not only was he super regretful of accusing Lightning, but now Lightning is best friends with someone else. Sally sees Mater really upset and tries to cheer him up.
"What's wrong Mater?"
"He's.. got a new best friend.."
This hurt Sally as much as it hurt Mater.
"It's going to be okay, Mater. Just, breathe, calm down."
"It hurts.. Sally.."
"I know.. Mater.. please, calm down.. it's hurts to see one of my friends hurt.."
"I can't even deal with this.. Sally.. we were mean to him when he was innocent.. now he has a new best friend.."
Sally wanted to cry. She couldn't bare seeing how hurt Mater was to see Lightning with a new best friend.
"Mater?"
"Yeah, Sally?"
"I believe it's time to apologize to Lightning."
"I think you're right, Sally."
"Okay everyone, let's go and see Lightning.
The Axel City Gang's Conversation..
"Lightning?"
"Yeah?"
"I would love to be your best friend."
everyone starts clapping.
"It's about time you two became best friends!" Darrington said
"I have an idea!" Blaze said to everyone. "Let's go on the stage and tell everyone that me and Lightning are best friends!"
"That sounds like a great idea!" Said Aj.
Lightning was looking over, trying to find the stage, but ended up finding another surprise. The Radiator Springs Gang has come to apologize to Lightning. Lightning didn't know this, he thought they were there to accuse him again and tell his new friends false information. Lightning drove away with the Axel City gang confused. "No!!!"
"Lightning, where are you going?" Blaze asked.
Lightning didn't reply. He kept driving away.
"Aj, why did Lightning drive away?"
"I don't know, Blaze. I think we should follow him."
"Good idea, Aj!" Blaze and the gang drove towards Lightning, wanting to know why he drove away. Once they caught up to him, they questioned him.
"Lightning, why did you drive away?" The red monster truck asked the race car.
"It's them.. they're here to accuse me!!"
"Who?"
"Sally.. and her friends.."
The gang gasped in shock.
"Lightning, calm down. It was probably just a hallucination."
"I can't let them find me!!"
"Lightning.. please.. calm down. Like I said, it was probably just a hallucination."
It wasn't a hallucination.
