How to draw a character:

First, draw a circle:

Create a new layer, lower the transparency of the circle, and draw a head on the new layer:

Now, remove the circle and create this line thing on the face (it's to keep eyes even and whatnot):

Add a neck and shoulders:

Draw your face:

If you want your character to have hair, create a line to separate the forehead from where the hair usually is:

Now add your hair:

Remove the lines and parts of the head that your hair hides:
