First off, a bit of info about the main character and the perspective of the story. The main character is originally a Clefairy named Cleffina. Cleffina was born with a mutation in her genes that make her look different than other Clefairy, giving her a straight, tipped tail instead of the normal curly tail.
Here's the backstory for Cleffina and her sister, Clenci
Cleffina and Clenci have been together their whole lives. Although Cleffina was always picked on, Clenci would be there for her when she needed it. Clenci was always more popular among the group because she was the first shiny of their new generation and because she was one of the nicest Clefairy around. However, one day something happened to the group. Clefairy and Clefable would start getting somewhat hypnotized and were sometimes seen with glowing green eyes. They had even been spotted attacking other Clefairy and infecting them or simply jumping off cliffs. Clefairy started hiding in their homes to try to avoid getting infected, yet some still suffered the same fate. Cleffina would soon find out that she wasn't safe either...
And the backstory for this AU's Gengar
Gengar came into his life in a strange way according to the humans. He was born from an egg just like any other Pokemon, yet he had been born in a Pokemon Center. However, instead of starting off as a Gastly, he had already been a Gengar, just very small and fluffy. The human girl who had been studying the egg and who witnessed it hatch was quite interested in him and took care of him for a few years. Gengar and that girl became very attached, but one day something happened to her. She had left one day to work, but didn't come back. Gengar got worried and checked the TV to see if there was anything. The news came up, saying that something happened where she worked. He panicked and immediately flew to the hospital, where he found her room. He had been invisible as he spied on the doctors with her. She didn't end up making it and Gengar was devastated and went insane, wanting others to know how he felt...
Anyways, that's all you really need to know. Sorry if it was long I just wanted to really flesh them out before just jumping into the story lol
