Chapter 39

A/N: Hey everyone! Welcome back! Anyways, here's the newest chapter, remember, I'm just the writer, Gabeherdon308 and Mandalore the Survivor own most of the OCs in this story, the rest belong to Disney or Netflix.

Trezac sighed as he sensed Master Skywalker stop in front of his door for the third time that hour.

Ever since...the incident, both his Master and padawan-brother had been more protective than usual. Even the clones barely let him out of their sight if either General wasn't around. Turning in his bed, he stared out the window, watching the lights of distant projectors and speeders pass by.

He understood why they all were so overprotective. The temple, it was the one place jedi could go to escape the war and the politics surrounding it, it was supposed to be safe.

And, yet, it didn't feel safe anymore.

Ever since the attack, he had felt the Force within the temple darken as rumors spread like wildfire. Loathing, disdain, betrayal, anxiety, fear, there was so much of it in the once peaceful halls. Granted there had always been such feelings; it had been there ever since he was a crecheling. But, as the years passed on, it only seemed to get worse. Trezac wasn't even sure if he could remember a time without sensing such things, whether they were from his own agemates or the elders.

Even then though, he'd always felt safe within the temple's walls.

Now, he didn't even feel safe in his own home anymore.

But how could someone feel safe knowing that someone they trusted with their own life could betray them at any moment?

Barriss had been his friend. She'd been Ahsoka's friend. And still, she betrayed her, betrayed them both.

He didn't even understand why she did it.

It was one thing to disagree with the war. It was another to murder innocent people and frame your own friend for the crime.

Did they wrong her in some way? Trezac hadn't been as close to Barriss as Ahsoka had been, he hadn't been on as many missions with her, but still, he thought they'd been friends. She knew she could have come to them if she had questions...right? Force knew she'd heard both him and Ahsoka complain about the politics enough to write several reports.

Oh Force, Ahsoka, he couldn't even imagine what she was feeling right now. The temple had been her home; she had wanted nothing more than to be a Jedi Knight like her Master. And to have that ripped away? By a friend no less?

How? How could the Council thought she could have possibly been guilty? She wasn't even on planet at the time of the attack! Wasn't that why they picked her to investigate in the first place? Because she had an alibi? Ahsoka had perhaps been more dedicated to finding the culprit than even Anakin had been. She'd been working tirelessly for hours after being in a harrowing battle for Force knew how long before that to solve the case. How could the council not see that?

Surely his own Master must have seen it? He knew Ahsoka as well as he did. How did Master Obi-Wan even allow the topic of expulsion cross the council chamber? How could he have not even allowed her a fair trial within the order first?

How could his Master have looked Ahsoka in the eye and told her she had been expelled and was being sent to the bloodhounds in the senate for trial?

"Trezac?" Anakin's voice called as he knocked on the door. "You ok?"

Force, he must've dropped his shields and projected. "Yeah, I'm fine," he answered, practically yanking his presence back within the walls of his own mind.
