Jimin absolutely loved his life.He had been a thief as a profession for a couple years now, and doing so had acquired him quite a few assets. His house was modest to ease suspicion - it was only one story, and the floor plan was nothing to boast about as it contained only the bare essentials - but knowing that he could have so much more in just an instant just because he wanted to?
It gave him a daily thrill.
It was the earliest hours of the morning when Jimin finally arrived back at his house, muscles tired and eyelids drooping as he pushed open his front door. He was exhausted, not really because of the robbery, because he had gotten used to the physical demands that were required for that. It was the unexpectedness of the evening that had completely exhausted Jimin's mind.
"Hyung? You awake?" Jimin's voice was raspy as he called through his home, feeling around the dark rooms with his fingertips as he was too lazy to find a light switch.
"How am I going to come up with a backup plan for you if I'm sleeping?" Jimin turned the corner, eyes coming to rest on the sight of his housemate lounging across their living room couch, laptop balanced on his chest and illuminating his face. "I'm glad to see you seem to have gotten out of this one successfully though."
Min Yoongi. Jimin wouldn't call him his partner, mostly because the older male wouldn't let him. The reality was though, that Yoongi really was the only person Jimin could rely on if things did actually go wrong. He wasn't a thief like Jimin, or good with technology, or even a good fighter really, but he knew how to drive and knew how to escape fast. Why wouldn't Jimin keep him around?
Jimin nodded and sighed, flicking on a table lamp that Yoongi had kept off to keep the room as dark as possible. This made Yoongi squint under his glasses, bringing his worn hands up to shield his face.
"You're so dramatic." Jimin couldn't help but laugh, throwing his bag onto the floor next to the couch. It made a satisfying thud. "I hope you're ready to stay awake though, because I have a story for you."
Yoongi uncovered his face, raising one of his eyebrows and sitting up more. His black hair stuck up at various angles, obvious that he had been sitting in the same position for a few hours. It was honestly hilarious that this was the person Jimin would call frantically when he was in the need of a getaway.
"Nothing to do with the police I hope." Yoongi sighed, pushing his spacebar to pause whatever video he was watching and moving his laptop to their table. "You know you can't run that fast, so they probably saw you even if you lost them."
Jimin rolled his eyes, pulling his black face mask off of his face and hanging it up on the coat hook on the wall next to him.
"You immediately jump to the worst case scenario." He bummed. "No, obviously I didn't run into the police, you would know if I did." He tugged at his collar. "I did, kind of, run into someone else though."
Yoongi furrowed his eyebrows, leaning forwards and squinting his eyes at Jimin. Honestly, the only thing more annoying than the kid himself was going to be telling Yoongi about him.
"I was going through with the plan like I always do." Jimin started, kicking off his boots and pulling down his hood - finally revealing all of his features. "Everything was normal. Just me, not even any security guards because of how shitty that bank was, and I was about to make my way to the vault."
Yoongi nodded, sitting up and moving to the side so that Jimin could sit beside him. The younger male complied before continuing. "I don't even know how to sugarcoat this so let's just cut to it. There was another person there, trying to do exactly what I was there to do."
Yoongi's eyes widened drastically, quickly becoming extremely interested in Jimin's story.
"Did they see you?" Was his first question, and of course it was, because that was the one thing they really couldn't afford.
"Yes, but," Jimin watched as a look of panic flashed over Yoongi's features. "Don't jump to conclusions, listen to me." Yoongi looked to the side for a moment, wringing his hands nervously before nodding for Jimin to continue. "He was just a teenager. A seventeen year old trying to rob a bank. He might've been able to do it too, if I wasn't there, because the only thing he really had going for him was his brains."
Jimin could tell that Yoongi's thoughts were going a mile a minute as he tried to process everything that Jimin was saying. Yoongi had always been the more paranoid one out of the two - hence why he stayed up until four am waiting for something to go wrong.
"Did you kill him?"
Yoongi's words hung in the air for a few moments, long enough that Jimin really didn't even have to reply. The lack of an answer, was an answer in itself.
"No." Jimin finally sighed, placing his head in his hands and rubbing his face. "I could have. He only brought a knife with him."
Yoongi looked at Jimin, then around the room, then back at Jimin. His face was absolutely coated in disbelief, his brain unable to rationalize what Jimin was saying. If someone saw his face, they died, that's just how it worked. So why was this rule changing now?
"Are you fucking insane?" His words didn't sound angry, just exasperated, completely caught off guard. "Jimin, you know what the consequences of this could be! People always say that they won't tell anyone but you and me both know how that always ends up."
"Yeah but that's the thing," Jimin huffed, picking at one of the scars on his hand. "He offered to help."
It was way too late at night for Yoongi to be speechless so many times. It seemed like every time Jimin opened his mouth he meant to give Yoongi a heart attack. "He did end up helping. He disabled the cameras and stole the tapes, so I actually ended up having a lot more time than I usually do. It was kind of nice."
Yoongi couldn't help but breathe out a deep sigh, reaching into the pocket of his sweatpants and pulling out a nearly empty carton of cigarettes. He kept Jimin in silence for a moment, obviously taking in all of the information he was given as he took a cigarette out of the box and held it between his teeth.
He patted around his pockets for a moment, furrowing his eyebrows in frustration when he couldn't find his lighter.
"So what now, Jimin? I can't really get mad at you can I? You already did the damage." A mini celebration was seen on his face once he found his lighter hidden between the couch cushions. He flicked it once and lit his cigarette, breathing in the smoke. "You better have a plan going into this, if you thought long enough about it to not kill him."
Jimin ran a hand through his hair, glancing over and watching as Yoongi blew the smoke out of the side of his mouth so that it wouldn't hit the younger male in the face.
"I'm meeting him again in around.." He checked his watch. "Three and a half hours. I have to teach him a few things, because as I said, the only thing he brought to a bank robbery was a knife."
Even Yoongi couldn't help but laugh at that, a low chuckle leaving his lips as he ashed his cigarette on the table in front of him. Jimin couldn't help but frown, always being the one the remind the older man to use an ashtray.
"You know what I think, Jimin?" He asked, Jimin humming in response and nodding for him to go on. "I think that you're starting to get bored. I also think, that you didn't kill this kid because you saw something exciting within him."
"Exciting?" Jimin scoffed. "This is going to feel like I'm a babysitter. I don't think that's exciting."
Yoongi shrugged, picking his laptop up precariously with one hand and placing it on his lap.
"You could've killed him." He answered shortly, pressing play on his video once more.
Jimin exhaled deeply, bringing his hands up to rub his face.
He could have. Why didn't he?
