CALISTA'S SURPRISED THAT SHE'S not breaking down upon leaving Daisy's bedroom. Then again, how can she break down when the last thing she saw was Daisy's warm smile that was so full of love — seeing that smile, Calista had hoped that her Daisy will hold on for a little longer.

Heading outside, Nina took some time to visit Daisy with her mother quickly. Calista was tempted to leave without Nina, but she couldn't bring herself to be that harsh when the world was possibly ending.

To calm herself down, Calista sat on the bench outside of the community home as she watched the clouds, spotting a duck in the sky that made her smile.

"How are you doing?" Druig asked Calista, sitting down next to her.

Calista let go of a long breath. "I'm not crying anymore, so that's a miracle."

"Today is full of miracles," Druig agreed.

There was so much Calista wanted to say about Daisy, but she was emotionally and physically exhausted from everything. Calista did not want to talk about the inevitable, she did not want to be reminded that when she came home, her Daisy might not be here.

"What can you see?" Calista asked instead, needing a distraction.

Druig's dark gaze was focused on Calista for a second longer before they flickered up to the sky above them. The clouds were dark and stormy with a promise of winter, but if you concentrated hard enough, you could still see shapes in the sky.

"I don't see anything, Cali," Druig told her.

Calista rolled her eyes at him, struggling to hide her smile. "You're not even trying."

"Clouds full of storm," said Druig.

"The shapes, Druig," Calista said.

"Fine," Druig replied, falling silent as he studied the clouds. Then, he pointed upwards as Calista's eyes tried to follow. "That cloud is shaped like the moon."

It was almost a crescent of cloud that was slightly darker than the grey cloud that rested behind it. Druig reminded Calista of the moon with one side cast in shadow while being so dark and mysterious, but, like Earth, Calista could not live without the moon. To Calista: Druig was the moon, Makkari the sun, and Calista the stars in between. Thinking of that made her smile, perhaps even missing how times had once been.

Catching her gaze, Druig offered a hint of a smile.

Then, coming out of the community home was Nina, who looked relieved to have found the two. Calista felt guilty, knowing Nina had thought that they had left without her.

"Daisy's having a rest now," Nina told them. "Mom's going to stay with her, so she doesn't wake up alone, but she's exhausted from the day's events — they both are. Dad will be coming by after work. Thomas too."
