Chapter 3
Accidental Confession

Richard leaned against a wall, Gavin and Hank did the same, while Connor kept an eye on a door. They were waiting for the guy to walk out before they cornered him. They had other officers waiting just down the street. When they got back to the office yesterday, Gavin transferred the information over to Hank and let everyone else know. Now it's just a waiting game. Gavin seemed to be struggling to not complain about how long it was taking. He wanted to just barge in and capture the guy, but he couldn't. This was his idea anyway. Connor noticed the door start to open before ducking behind the wall. "Get ready to possibly chase him." He whispered. "Finally." Gavin said to himself, rolling his eyes. Richard nudged him and so did Hank. Connor looked at Gavin, confused, but shrugged it off. They have other things to deal with right now. They waited for Connor's command. Once they got it, they started heading towards the guy, yelling at him to stop in his tracks. The guy stopped, turning to face them. It took a second for the scene to process, but once it did, he ran off down the alley, the team following behind him. The guy turned into another alley, trying his best to lose them. Hank contacted the other officers, letting them know what was happening and where they were heading. Gavin looked around for a way to get ahead of the guy, and once he found a way, he nudged Hank. Hank looked at him confused. "If we hop up there and rush ahead of them, we can hopefully get in front of the guy!" Gavin said. Hank looked up at where Gavin was looking before nodding, agreeing with the idea. They continued running until they got a chance, both climbing up to the roof of a building. Richard noticed them. "Damn androids." He said. Connor soon noticed too, and began smiling at the androids. Gavin and Hank rushed ahead of them before stopping and waiting. Gavin watched the others, calculating when they should hop down. Once he heard the sirens, he gave the signal to Hank, and both of them hopped off the roof, landing in front of the guy. The guy slid into a stop, looking at the androids. He looked up at where they had jumped down from, shocked. Once he heard the others behind him, he turned to face them. Connor and Richard stopped running, slowing to a walk. Connor started to approach the guy, the sirens closing in. Richard stayed where he was, just in case. He looked over at Gavin, who looked back at him. The guy couldn't think. Everything happened so fast. Those androids were too fast. Once he heard the handcuffs, he tried to run off again, only to end up face-to-face with Richard. "Don't even try." Richard threatened. Once the police units stopped where they were and other officers got out, the guy looked at them. He felt Connor grab him and cuff him. He looked at the androids before glaring at them. "You stupid fucking androids! If you weren't here, I would've escaped!" The guy yelled. "Thank God we were here then!" Gavin spoke, smirking. "Fuck you!" The guy yelled before getting dragged to the police cars. "You wish you could!" Gavin joked, watching the guy. "Gavin!" Richard said, an annoyed tone in his voice. Gavin looked over at Richard, not expecting that. "Come here!" Richard said, glaring at Gavin. Gavin walked over to Richard, looking at his eyes. "What?" He spoke. "What happened to pretending to be a machine?" Richard whisper-yelled. "What do you mean? I am!" Gavin whisper-yelled back. "Machines don't say "you wish you could" to a criminal when the criminal says something like that!" Richard lectured him. "A machine would stay quiet and let the other person deal with them!" He continued. Gavin stared at him before speaking. "Detective, I'm sure you're overreacting." He spoke. "Gavin, I'm trying to keep you from getting sent back to Cyberlife!" Richard said. "Why do you care anyway? I thought you originally wanted me to go back! I thought you didn't even like androids!" Gavin said, starting to get upset. "I never said that." Richard scoffed. "Yes you did! You also said how you didn't agree to having an android to Amanda!" He went on, his LED turning red as he did so. "Gavin, I don't want you getting taken away, or worse! Please, just act like a machine!" Richard spoke. "At least pretend at the PD." Connor spoke, causing the two to go quiet. They both looked at Connor. "Yeah, your whispering slowly turned into actual yelling." Connor said, crossing his arms. Gavin and Richard looked away, worried for themselves and each other. "You're going to have me deactivated and replaced, aren't you?" Gavin said, his voice softening. "What?! No!" Connor began. "Gavin, I'm not turning you, or Hank, or Richard, in. Act however you want in front of me!" He continued, smiling. "Just be careful at the PD or in other public places. That could be dangerous for us all, especially at the PD." He said, his smile softening a bit. Gavin and Richard looked at Connor and then at each other, then back at Connor. "Thank you." Gavin spoke finally, Connor's smile brightening again. "Let's go help the others." He said. They started to walk back to the guy's base. Gavin looked at Hank. "Did you tell him?" He asked. Hank looked at Gavin. "Well, I told him about myself. You guys kind of confessed yourselves." He responded. "Oh." Gavin looked at the ground. At least they'll all be safe, and now they can be a bit more comfortable around each other without having to hide anything from each other. As they approached the other officers, they hurried over to them, helping. The hostages seemed okay, physically at least. The only physical injuries they sustained were minor cuts and bruises. Years of therapy and justice were the best they could do for the mental scars.

Richard, Gavin, Connor, and Hank stood in the breakroom, trying to calm themselves down from everything. Everyone else seemed to be too busy with the paperwork to pay attention to anything else, so Gavin decided to be himself, but still be a bit quiet, not wanting to alert the others. Gavin leaned on the table, pleased with how everything went, well, except for the argument between him and Richard and them accidentally confessing everything. Richard wrapped an arm around Gavin's shoulder. Gavin looked up at him. Richard sipped his coffee, glancing down at Gavin. Connor was too busy looking at something on his phone while Hank watched. Richard put down his mug before speaking. "You're not that bad, I guess." He said, talking to Gavin. Gavin smiled softly, looking away. Connor finally looked at them, curious about what was going on. "I guess you're not too bad either." Gavin spoke, his LED flashing blue. Richard smiled, looking at his coffee. Connor and Hank watched before looking at each other and then back at Richard and Gavin. Connor decided to break the silence. "So, Gavin, how long have you been a deviant? I mean, you haven't been here that long? Did Richard drive you crazy enough that you deviated immediately?" He joked, Richard gently punching his arm. Gavin chuckled. "No, I deviated on the way to the PD. Although I can't really tell you why." He responded. "But if I didn't, I wouldn't be surprised if I did deviate the first time I met Richard." He joked, Connor giggling. Richard sighed, moving his arm away from Gavin and leaning on the table. The others giggled at Richard's reaction. "Glad you guys find this whole deviant thing fun." Richard said, sarcasm in his voice. "You love us." Gavin said. "Do I?" Richard said, looking at Gavin. "You do." Connor responded before sipping his coffee. "No, I don't." Richard joked. The others chuckled, only for Gavin and Hank to snap back into pretending to be machines when an officer entered the breakroom. "Connor and Hank, we need you two." The officer spoke. Richard looked up, looking at the officer. Connor nodded, grabbing his coffee and starting to walk with the officer, Hank following. Richard sighed, standing up straight again. "Are you okay, detective?" Gavin asked, looking at Richard. "Yeah, why?" Richard said, looking at Gavin. "You're tense." Gavin said. "I'm always tense." Richard said, shrugging it off. Gavin looked away, thinking. "We should get back to work." Richard said, grabbing his coffee. Gavin looked at Richard, watching him walk off, back to his desk. He finally decided to follow him, still a bit concerned for the detective, but he'll check on him later at home.
