Chapter 4

(Aratani's POV) 

"Aratani." Shota says as we sat on the bus. I look up. "You know I'm not upset right?" He said. "You got a funny way of showing it." I stated. "Yeah I guess, you know what I promised-" "I know what you promised my mom Shota, but I'm an adult. You raised me and you still do take care of me, but you also trained me, and now I'm a pro dad!" I said. He smiled half heartedly, and ruffled my hair. "You're right Ari. So...tell me about this guy." He said. I kept the same vague answers. I felt the less people knew about "Kaen" the better. Something was wrong and I could feel it. We reached the base way before the kids, and they had me bunk with the girls. "Good." Around 5:30 pm the kids emerged from the woods...beat up and battered. "Goddamn." I muttered. "We thought you said it would take us until noon!" One of the boys says. "Whoops! We probably measured it by the time it would take US." Mandalay said. "This is HELL!" Kirishima explained. Pixie-Bob began to ramble about how impressed she was by the students, especially a few of the boys. "Speaking of age-" Midoriya said. Pixie-Bob grabbed his face. I was going to stop her but Aizawa shook his head at me so I stayed put. "I was just going to ask who is that?" He said motioning to Water Hoses' kid and Mandalay's cousin. The kid I could tell did not want to be there. "This is my cousin's son Kota. He's staying with us. Say Hello Kota." Mandalay explained. Midoriya walked up to him and stuck his hand out. "Hey there, My name's Midoriya, I'm from the U.A. High School Hero Course; It's nice to meet you." He said kindly. 

    Kota however didn't seem thrilled, and pulled his arm back punching Midoriya in his crotch. "Oh, Right in the batteries." I mumbled. Mandalay looked horrified. 'Can't spank a kid if it's not mine. Can't spank a kid if it's not mine." I chanted in my head. Aizawa elbowed me. "You're thinking out loud Tani." He said and I scratched my neck coughing awkwardly. Ida ran over scolding Kota as he held Midoriya, but Kota didn't seem phased, he turned and if looks could kill, Ida and Midoriya would both be dead. "The last thing I want to do is hang with some wannabe heroes!" He hissed storming off. It suddenly hit me. Mr. And Mrs. Water Hose were killed early on in his life...kinda like my parents. But instead of Kota seeing it as they died as heroes he saw it as if they left him behind. He was hurting. "Get your luggage and move into your rooms." Shota said, snapping me out of my thoughts. I walked up to Mandalay. "Don't worry, He'll learn eventually." "Are you sure?" Mandalay said. "I did. It was kind of easier since Domino was a villain." I claimed. "Look, Kota's just hurting. He doesn't understand why we do this." I said. I patted her shoulder and walked in to help cook dinner. The kids were hungry as they ate the food the pussycats provided. Eventually it was time for us to get cleaned up. "Ms. T!" Mina called happily as I walked into the hot springs with them. "Hey ladies." I said. I could hear the boy on the other side. "So! Show us the quirk!" Hagakure said. "Sorry?" "We know you copied your mystery boy's quirk. You copy everyone's!" Mina said. "I'm sure Momo and your teacher has explained exactly why." "Because it's your quirk! Replicate." Ochaco answered. "Right." I said. "C'mon!" Mina said. "Geez you sound just like one of the third years." I chuckled. I held out my hand engulfing it in fire. "Whoa!" They all said. "Wait...blue flames?" Momo said shocked. "Yeah. Interestingly, I'm telling you ladies this because I love you girls and trust you to keep it to yourselves, yes?" I said. "We swear Aratani!" They all said. I was about to tell them until I heard Kota: "Before you become a hero, you should learn how to become a good human." He said. "I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS!" I heard Mineta yell. "That little fucker!" I said to myself. He was probably trying to get a peak at us. "Mineta really is the worst isn't he?" Tsu called up to Kota. He turned. "Thanks so much Kota babe!" Mina called. "We owe you one!" She said Happily. 

He fell back but I didn't hear an impact, implying one of the boys must've caught him. No doubt if I had to guess Midoriya did. I wrapped a towel around my body and went to check. Sure enough, midoriya wrapped in a towel held Kota in his arms. "Miss Aratani-" "Aratani is just fine. Were you going to take him to Mandalay?" I asked him. He nodded. "Miss Ari, do you know why he would hate heroes?" He asked. I sighed. "It's not my place kid, go ask Mandalay. But I'll give you this much. Stain spared you right?" I asked. He nodded. "Hero society is corrupt. But it doesn't stop people like me and you." I said as I walked back to the hot springs with the girls. "Is he alright?" Momo asked me. "Midoriya caught him and is taking him to Mandalay. He'll be fine." I said placing my hand on her shoulder. "So...before that." Tsu said and I chuckled. "Girls, don't tell anyone but you all are my favorites." I said giggling with them. "Right, so what I was saying is his quirk must be doing something to him. When I went to patch him up he had burns...worse than Todoroki's eye. Everywhere on his body." "You couldn't heal them?" Jiro asked. "Sweetie, if I could've I would've. You know I hate seeing people in pain." "You have no trouble beating the shit out of us everyday." Jiro said. All the girls made sounds of agreement. "Ya'll take it like champions, only ones I can't affect are You, Hagakure, and Tsu." I said to Jiro. "However you three." I said referring to Momo, Mina, and Ochaco. "I will be working you three to the bone!" I said making the girls smile. Once we got out the girls went to bed. I changed into my pajamas but stepped outside and looked up. 

I can feel it...I'll see you again...Kaen.

 Whoo what was this? Two chapters in one night? I'm doing good! I'll get more out as soon as I can but other than that I'm gonna do my best to get as many as I can in! She sees Dabi in the next chapter. I know it's been slow so far, but you all know how I write. Also, yes Aratani thinks hero society is corrupt! Happy reading!
