The week flew by and Saturday came again. Sofia and Alice were getting ready in their apartment and would meet the rest of the group at the restaurant. The apartment was old and spacious, very different from the new studios that the construction companies liked to sell as the new lifestyle. And what Sofia liked most was the huge kitchen, isolated from the living room, the place was where her dreams began to take shape and become real. The place where she would like to stay on that Saturday night. After all, she needed to test new recipes and work hard to achieve the expected success.

"Are you sure this dinner is necessary?"

Sofia entered Alice's room and went into the bathroom where her sister was putting on makeup. A cool breeze blew in through the open window, fluttering the white curtains. The room was always impeccably organized, as if Alice could live differently.

Since Sofia arrived later in the apartment, she occupied the smaller room with a separate bathroom. She had not yet the time to think about a decoration different from the pastel shades that made up the space. Her only change was the clothes, shoes and other objects scattered all over the room. Her sister occupied the only suite and had decorated the space in blue and white, with light curtains and classic furniture. A little too princess"like for Sofia. Her sister was always the more romantic and dreamy one, but practical in her profession. Sofia was the opposite, practical in life and creative and dreamy in her profession. Yes, it was a contradiction, but somehow they made it work.

"Sofi, you are not going to stay home on a Saturday night working in that kitchen. You need to go out and live." Alice would not give her sister any chance to escape.

"Ali, I need to work. Siùcar has just opened, nothing is certain."

"You've worked all day and I'm sure that tomorrow won't be any different " Alice finished her make"up and looked at her sister " Nothing is certain for anyone, the future doesn't belong to us. So let's enjoy the present.

"Very original of you," Sofia remarked.

"Sometimes we need to appeal to clichés so that such closed"minded people can understand us. Come, I'll help you with your make-up." Alice replied.

"Spoken like a true intellectual."

"This is in the past. Sofi, it's for my wedding, you as a bridesmaid have to come. It's not an optional invitation, you know?"

Alice really didn't give Sofia a chance to find another excuse. She had already missed important events in Alice's life when she was abroad and knew that her sister wanted to make the most of the wedding experience.

"So the purpose of the dinner is to get the groomsmen and bridesmaids together?" Sofia asked as she sat down on her sister's dressing table to be dressed.

"Yes, we are going to make an official announcement. However, the pairings are not decided yet, so no need to worry. It's a night for everyone to get to know each other and relax."

"May I know who the chosen ones are?"

"Gabriel will be there, if that is what you are asking. "

Great, spending more time with that rude man was what Sofia most wanted.

"Doesn't Tomás have a cousin to take his place?" Sofia tried to impose innocence on the question.

"There's only one who will be there today too, his name is Arthur, but he's not the nicest person in the world." Alice replied, trembling slightly.

"Mom mentioned him while she was making the list of men present at the engagement party."

"It's just like her to do that." Alice couldn't hold back her laughter.

Sofia just nodded and continued.

"And I had the pleasure of meeting him at dinner."

"And how was it?"

"Well, not at all pleasant, as you described it."

"I'm sorry about that, Sofi, unfortunately he is family and we will have to be patient."

"I understand. Mom also mentioned Eric, but I already know him and know that he has a girlfriend."

"Another not very nice person, but she won't be a bridesmaid. Tomás said that Eric's relationships never last long, he falls in love too easily."

"He is a nice guy."

"Yes. Besides them, Daniel will also be best man. And as bridesmaids we have you, obviously" Alice looked affectionately at her sister "Cecilia, Vivian and Jade."

"I met Daniel and Jade at the party, Vivian introduced me to them."

Sofia met them both briefly at the engagement party, but after the wine accident she didn't feel like following the conversation anymore. She was there until the end, out of consideration for her sister and her family, but also because she would like to witness the guests' reaction when they tasted her desserts. Her mother's goal of watching her daughter socializing and meeting so many boys had vanished.

"They are nice too, but we can take Daniel off Mom's list, he's definitely not looking for a woman." Sofia continued.

"No, he's always got along very well with the other guys at college, so he's great at giving advice to us women. You can get some tips from him tonight." Alice suggested.

Sofia just frowned at her sister until she thought of a provocative answer, but she wasn't very creative that night.

"Maybe he can give me some business tips."

"The best person for that is Gabe. He can also give you tips on how to socialize, make friends, and maybe even date."

"I am fine, thank you."

"I wonder if you really are, Sofi?"

And Sofia asked herself the same question all night long.
