When he went into the famous bakery Siùcar Fine Sweets, there was no one at the counter. He rang the bell and a young brunette girl appeared.

"Please, I'm looking for chef Sofia MacLean."

"Oh, sir, Sofia is not in right now." Yasmin answered.

"And do you know when she will return?" he questioned.

"I need to check with Gisele, she knows Sofia's schedule. Just a minute."

When someone returned, it was no longer the young woman, but a stunning blonde woman. This country really did have beautiful women.

"Hello, Mr...?"

"Ivan Vassily."

"Mr. Vassily, Sofia is not in at the moment and might not be back in the bakery today. Did you make an appointment with her?"

"Not really, my arrival is a surprise. I am moving to the city and decided to visit an old friend." The tone of the word friend suggested much more and Gisele realized it.

"You really do have a different accent. Where are you from?"

"I was born in Russia, but chefs end up living in several places and speaking several languages to get to know the vast world of gastronomy," Ivan gestured widely with his hands.

"So did you work with Sofia in any of the countries she studied in?" Gisele asked.

"Precisely." Ivan didn't want to elaborate on his history with Sofia. He looked her up and down, appraising her. "Any day we can arrange for you to show me around."

"Sure, I'd love to know more about the places you had worked." Gisele had never been intimidated by male flirtation, and with this handsome man she could learn a lot more about Sofia and the next step in her career.

"Sure, I'll drop by. Thanks for the chat." He gave Gisele a wink and left.

He thought Sofia would be happy to see him, but he could use some time until they get back together. From what he observed from the shop, she was not doing badly at all.

From the time they were together, Sofia had already been talking about the crazy ideas of having her own desserts business instead of running the kitchen of a famous restaurant like him. They had different visions about their careers. However, they were both passionate about gastronomy and each other. He never wanted the relationship to end, and now he would be able to stay with her without rushing, because he didn't intend to go anywhere. Azevedo was his new home.
