Joss' POV

After a breakfast of canned pork and beans and hash browns I decided that it was time to go marketing. My pantry and freezer were almost empty. That was the reason I had to open a can of pork and beans. I was even lucky to find a package of frozen hash browns in place of bread. My bread box was totally empty.

Thankfully the supermarket was not too far from my condo unit.

I was about to pull out a grocery cart from its location when I heard someone calling my name.

I turned in the direction of the voice.

"Saint! What are you doing here so early in the morning?" was how I greeted him back.

"Why do you think?" he asked with a smirk.

Shit, I had been too pleasantly surprised to see him that I had just said the first thing that came to my over excited and therefore not well functioning brain.

"I'm sorry," I said. "Let me start over. Hello, Saint, it's so good to see you! How have you been? It's been a long while since I last saw you."

"Now you're talking too much," he said with another smirk.

"I better just keep quiet and just give you a quick hug to let you know how happy I am to see you again," I said, leaning over and giving him the hug that I savored so much, drinking in the pleasant smell of his freshly shampooed hair and his freshly laundered shirt and just his overall beautiful smell. It was making me pleasantly dizzy.

He hugged me back which I was thankful for.

"I used the last few eggs to make breakfast. My fridge and kitchen cabinets are running out of supplies," he said.

"So are mine," I replied with a chuckle. "Are you doing anything the rest of the day?"

He stopped to think while I held my breath.

"Actually ..." (here it comes, the big fat reject) ... actually I won't be free till after lunch," I heard him say.  "What did you have in mind?"

"I was thinking of treating you to lunch but since you won't be free till after, maybe I can just treat you to a movie and then dinner afterwards?" I crossed my fingers tightly behind my back.

"I think that would work," he said.

I uncrossed my fingers, feeling the circulation in my hand again.

"I will call you just before leaving the house to confirm that we're pushing through with our planned activities. Where do you want to meet?" Saint asked.

"How about I pick you up from your place?" I countered, my heart thudding loudly in my chest. Please say yes, please say yes, I said silently to myself.

"Umm ... " Saint was thinking carefully. I could tell from his facial expression. I was starting to feel dizzy from holding my breath. "Maybe it would be best that I drive myself to wherever we're going to watch a movie. That way if anything comes up I have quick transportation available."

I wanted to argue that I could always drive him to wherever he needed to go in an emergency but I could tell that he had made up his mind. I suppressed my disappointment.
