He adjusted his glasses as he observed the male in front of him from across the makeshift desk. Even though it was little more than a slab of stone. Books were piled haphazardly beside him and on the desk itself, papers and quills scattered amongst the organized chaos. At least he thought it was organized.

His King sat there on the makeshift chair, again another slab of stone, his arms folded against his tan chest.

"So... you're a Pyro Lector..." he said, raising an eyebrow.

"Yep! That's me. Well, I'm one of them as there are many Lectors in the Order, there has to be cause we have to send out the truth to all who deign to hear us. I'm just down here because I wanted to find the truth that caused Orobaxi to be slaughtered by the Shogun because it must've been something against Celestia, so I wanted to know and-"

His King held up a hand. "You're rambling, Lector."

"Sorry your Majesty. I don't get company very often. Not this high up in the Abyss anyways. This is the closest to the surface one can get while still remaining in the Abyss."

He watched his King's eyebrow quirk up in silent question. And he took it as a sign to launch into an explanation.

"Enkanomiya got banished down into the Abyss simply for worshipping Orobaxi, at least that is what I think happened, and Orobaxi learned some forbidden knowledge, and they were down here long enough to create this whole system and it's fascinating and very fun to figure out-" he paused. He was rambling again. "Sorry your Majesty. I got excited," he coughed, clearing his throat as he adjusted his glasses again.

"Just call me Kaeya for the time being. I haven't taken up my throne yet."

That name caused his heart to leap out of his chest. Could it be? Could it possibly be? He prayed it was possible.

"You wouldn't happen to be an Alberich, would you?" he asked, hopeful that the royal bloodline really had lived on. That the last and final King had succeeded in getting the young prince away from this cursed country. It was a hope that had been nothing but coals, a fools hope. But here was the possible, last and only remaining Alberich, the last of the royal bloodline.

"I do happen to be an Alberich. Why is that important?"

The Lector stopped himself from grinning and leaping for joy. So it had worked! The last and final King had gotten his son away, and here sat that son, full grown and an adult. And ready to take up that vacant throne. He cleared his throat and clasped his hands together, forcing his face to become serious.

"Because your father never came back."

Diluc glanced back at Carmel, noticing how she fell far behind the others. She kept looking back towards Mondstadt, past the towering mountain of Dragonspine. Which they had wholeheartedly avoided, instead heading into Liyue through the stone gate. Ahead of them lay an inn built into the tree itself, and it was there they would find solace for a few days to gather supplies, and move on. He just prayed Kaeya didn't move so far ahead to the point where they would have no hope of catching up. He also prayed he traveled with Klee, which would make him significantly slower.

He also worried endlessly. There were no signs of Hilichurls anywhere, not even in their usual camps. The only monsters they greeted were Fatui personnel, like Cicin Mages and Fatui Agents with the occasional Skirmishers, Pyro Gunslingers, Legionnaires, and the rest of them. No Harbingers, thank Archons. Harbingers were the last people he wanted to run into right now.

Wangshu Inn stood proudly and tall in the marshes, yet it was disturbingly silent. The usual guards that should've been posted around the bridges were gone, and there was not one soul to find as they approached the inn. At least the elevator still worked.
