The Barbie Adventure VII: Barbie Fairytopia: Mermaidia

Delphine the Oracle

"So, you and Nalu," Nori crossed her arms. "Is he a really good friend, or a 'good' good friend?"

It had taken quite a swim/fly chase, but they had managed to catch up with Nori and make it to where the ferry was supposed to be.

"Ten to go across?"

The nine girls and Bibble turned to see a large snail at them.

"No, we need to find Delphine, and you know where she is," Nori said.

"None to go across, then," the snail said.

Twilight bit her lip.

"Uh... ten to go across!" she hurriedly called out.

"All well, why didn't you say so. Hop on!" the snail exclaimed, and they all boarded.

"Nice thinking," Pinkie said.

But she was a little worried now.

"Felicitations for me, Shelly, the fairy ferry. Fares vary, the fare is fair and furry fairy friends are our faves," the snail said as the trip began. 

"Try saying that five times fast," Rainbow Dash snickered. 

"You know where Delphine is," Nori quickly cut in. "So give it up."

"Oh, someone woke up on the wrong side of the coral this morning," Shelly replied. 

"Twilight, you said she would tell is where Delphine was," Nori whisper-hissed. 

"I never said that, it said that 'the shell matters not...'" Twilight recalled as the lightbulb went off in her head. "Shelly! Do you think you could... you know... open your shell?"

"Open my shell?" Shelly repeated, when her voice suddenly deepened. "But of course."

The ferry suddenly stopped, and Shelly dove under the water. 

"This way," Twilight said, jumping in and swimming down to the bottom, thankful that it was shallow. Shelly was already settled by the time all of them arrived, and her shell began opening, revealing a sparkling playground inside, with a small mermaid. 

"That's her!" Nori exclaimed. "Delphine! She's just like I imagined."

Delphine swam up to the group. 

"What do you wish to know?" she asked. 

"We're looking for Prince Nalu," Sunset explained. "Do you know where he is?"

"A sand crab in the hand is worth two in the shell," Delphine replied. 

"I'm sorry?" Rarity scrunched her nose in confusion. 

Applejack, meanwhile, could feel her sixth sense open up. 

Something else was going on. 

"All's fair in love and pufferfish ball," Delphine said. 

"Can't we just make her speak normally, like how they made Buzz speak Spanish in Toy Story 3?" Rainbow Dash asked. 

(i thought spanish buzz was hilarious... IT WAS LIKE A SPANISH LADYNOIR IN THE TINIEST SENSE WAIT WHAT--)

"Look, we've spent a while trying to find you," Nori narrowed her eyes. "Now where is Nalu?"

"A bit of coral saved, is a bit of coral earned," Delphine answered. 

Applejack turned back to Shelly.

Wait a second...

"Guys, that's not her," she realized as the pieces all clicked together.
