Saturday.
What do most people do on Saturdays? Sleep? Yeah, well, Carina's a little bit different.
Her mind was running a mile a minute, ideas flooding her quicker than she could write them. When she woke up at 6 am, yeah, that's right, 6 am. She had her first idea, to redecorate.
She had always wanted a room like the ones she had seen in the films, book pages covering the walls, plants in every corner, a bookshelf filled with all her favourite books, she wanted to look at it and feel like it was hers, she'd never had that before. The ability to look at something and truly feel as if it was hers, as if she belonged, she had always felt somewhat out of place.
She never really had a favourite book, they all had something in it that she liked, but none of them were perfect, that was until 'You're my rainbow' of course. The only problem she had was the fact that it was an online book, so there were no real pages, that changed though when carina spent hours printing them out of beige paper, changing the font to make it look like a published book.
"I love it" Carina smiled to herself, looking at the few pages on the wall, excited for it to fill it up as they continued publishing
She could not express her love for this book. She simply couldn't put into words how the mere fact that this book exists is the reason she feels alive in her day-to-day life. The feeling that she gets when a new chapter is published. The feeling in her chest when she remembers a quote that she favoured.
There were no words in the English language to sum up how far she would go for this book and sure 'it's just a book' but it was more than a book to Carina, it was a life jacket in the middle of the ocean, a bottle of water in the middle of the desert, it was the thing she cherished most in this world.
She loves these written words as you love a person, though love still doesn't feel like the right word. There are no words to sum up her feelings, there is no combination of the 26 letters that make up the English alphabet that could sum up every feeling she felt towards this book but if she had to say something, if she had to put diction to her thought she would say that she loved this book more than anything before it.
. . .
"Ugh" Maya groans when she's woken up by her phone ringing, prepared to curse them until she saw the name come up
Carina
"Hey" Carina squeals, Maya practically hearing her smile from the other end of the line
"Hi, it's um... 8 in the morning," Maya says, trying to sound slightly awake, how anybody could be awake before 3 pm baffled her
"Oh yeah, I didn't wake you up did I?" Carina asks hesitantly, trying not to show any fear in her voice, the fear of dissapointing
"No, no of course not" Maya lies, what would be the point in making her feel bad?
"Good, do you want to hang out?" Carina asks, Maya trying to hide the fact she wanted to sleep
