4 am

I was awake until 4 am... again, for the 4th time this week

Carina was all I could think about. She was new, she didn't know about her past, she didn't know of my mistakes, she just knew me, I liked that.

I liked knowing that none of her actions had an anterior motive. A motive to make me pay for what I did. She wanted to get to know who i was, not believe that i was a serial killer that needed to be locked up.

Something was off about her though. It was the happiness for sure. Nobody can truly be happy 24 hours a day, it was simply impossible. The only thing you could do for 24 hours was fake it.

Don't get me wrong, she has a beautiful smile, I just wish it was a smile from true happiness rather than a smile formed by moving muscles in your face to please those around you.

I ended up falling asleep soon after, getting just under two hours before that devilish chiming on my phone decided to wake me up.

"Ciao" Carina smiles, sitting next to me in biology that morning

"It's 8 in the morning, why are you so awake?" I yawn, everyone talking amongst themselves

"I'm a morning person. It's scientifically proven that a person's speed and accuracy at completely tasks are better in the morning"

Of course she would know that.

"Let me guess, you're the sort of person to wake up at 5 am and journal every morning," I say, my face straight like always.

"It's less journalling and more like fictional writing," she laughs

"You write?" I question, intrigued as to what she kept hidden

"Sort of, it's just a few things that come to mind"

"What about?"

She didn't look like it was something she really wanted to tell me so I assumed it was just random things. Either that or it was just something really embarrassing, who am I to judge?

"Just things I see that I take a liking to" Carina shrugs before the class starts, everyone's attention facing forward

The class was torturous for me, mainly due to the fact I had to pretend I didn't realise Carina was staring at me the entire time. I'm not complaining, she can look if she wants to but can she at least try to make it look like she wasn't doing it?

After class, we ended up back in the music room which Carina was starting to get used to, knowing it was the literal only way to speak to me.

"You know, you're really pretty" Carina whispers after we've been sitting there for a while, not exactly looking like she meant to say it out loud
