Fire Meet Gasoline

Austin we have a problem

CK watches as her brother and carlos discuss their relationship or lack there of, the two having invited her to join them whilst calls were quiet and she grabbed lunch for the 126, tk huffs when carlos insists on paying for his drink along with his own when the card machine shot out sparks.

"Ow the hell" carlos mutters, "you okay?" tk asks, "yeah" carlos assures as car alarms start going off randomly and a scooter starts beeping, "the hell is this?" carlos asks, an electric scooter drives itself into the road "whoa, whoa" tk comments, at that moment a car swerves to avoid hitting the scooter as tk, carlos and ck get up to investigate, "hey you okay?" tk asks the driver, "help, this thing won't stop!" a man shouts across the road as he's tossed on a car hood after his scooter crashes, "oh, my god" tk announces rushing to help almost getting hit by a car himself before carlos pulls him back , "hey, hey, hey, hey, watch it" carlos warns, "hey, you all right?" tk shouts, "yeah" the man assures.

"Hey, why are both lights green?" carlos asks the sibling duo, "what?" tk asks, "both lights are green" carlos points out just as a transformer pops, "whoa, whoa, whoa" carlos comments, "what the" tk mutters in disbelief, "if whatever's going on keeps affecting the lights there's gonna be a major accident" ck comments, not even minutes later a truck collides head on with a mini bus, "oh god" ck remarks as tk pulls her and carlos back before they rush to help, ck throws her jacket off to keep it dry.

The two siblings watch as the passengers exit the bus but subsequently leave the driver trapped.

"Everybody get off okay?" the woman asks politely, "yeah everybody's fine" tk confirms, "what the devils going on?" the woman asks, "what's your name ma'am" tk asks checking the woman's pulse, "ellen" the woman supplies, "okay Ellen, I'm TK and this is my sister CK, we're here to get you out all right" tk explains as he tries to pull the debris off as his sister crouches down next to ellen, "we're trained in this sort of stuff you're in good hands" ck assures, "my back's wet, it's not blood, is it?" the woman asks, "no, it's just some water, you took out a hydrant when you flipped" tk explains through grunts as he tries to pull the obstruction out of the way, "ellen, are you in a lot of pain?" tk asks, "fair amount, I'm pretty sure both my legs are busted up" the woman explains, "can you wiggle your toes for me? all right, good, I don't think there's any spinal damage" tk explains as he and ck watch closely as the woman wiggles them, "are you a medical student and a firefighter?" the woman questions, "no, I'm a, I was a firefighter" tk explains, "I'm a firefighter hence the austin fd logo but I was grabbing lunch for my crew" ck explains, "well, that's convenient" the woman remarks, "yeah, it'd be convenient if we had some equipment, um, we'll be right back, okay?" tk says, "I'll be right here" ellen confirms, the two jump out ck rushes to find any medical supplies whilst tk rips the front bumper off, both siblings rush around after catching the familiar scent of gas.

"Hey, Carlos!" tk shouts, "yeah?" carlos asks, "we got a gas leak here, keep everybody back" tk warns, "well back! we don't know when or if it'll go up!" ck shouts, "everybody back! everybody stay back! please, everybody stay back! please, stay back!" carlos instructs as the sibling duo climb back into the bus, "that's my bumper?" ellen asks as TK climbs in with it, "well, it's no jaws of life, but it should do" tk explains, "ellen I'm just going to place my hands on your head to keep it in place for now incase you have a spinal injury" ck explains, "okay, okay, honey, you're bleeding" ellen points out as she watches tk, "huh? oh, that's nothing" tk says, "it doesn't look like nothing" ellen pries, "I got shot" tk reveals, "and I thought I was having a bad day" ellen remarks, "not just now, earlier, one of the stitches must have come off" tk explains as he grunts using the bumper to lift the obstruction, "oh, yes, we're good, we're making progress, okay, okay, we need to move you, can you move your leg?" tk asks as he tries to move ellen's leg despite the warning glare ck gives him, "no" ellen cries, "sorry, sorry, the water level is rising, we gotta get out of here!" tk instructs causing ellen to scream ck lets go of ellen's head to move and help tk, "whoa, uh, is there a fire extinguisher?" tk asks as the bus goes up in flames, "there!" ellen points, "okay, okay, oh, come on" tk grabs the extinguisher and begins spraying the fire with it being unsuccessful in his attempt.

"Honey, honey, honey, you've both done everything that you can, you two need to g-go" ellen says cupping the two's faces with each of her hands, "ellen I'm not going anywhere until you're safe" ck refuses as the woman begins going underwater, "no, no, no, hey, hey, hey, no, no, no, hey, no, no, no! hold your breath!" tk orders, "come on ellen hold your breathe for us!" ck begs as she and tk take deep breathes in before ducking under the water as tk tries to revive the woman as ck works on trying to free her, both lift their heads out the water at the same time gazes meeting briefly before going back under, feeling a gloved hand on each of their backs out of the blue, owen places masks over the two pulling tk out first before going back in for ck proceeding to force his son down, "dad I think you need to get him help from michelle's team he ripped his stitches" ck explains helping as the team pull ellen out.

Carlos walks up to owen as tk climbs in the ambulance with ellen.

"He's an impressive guy" carlos comments, "he's my son" owen states with a bursting sense of pride.

CK hops out of the rig spotting tk on the bench heading over to sit next to him resting her head on his shoulder as the others pile out.

"Aquaman, back on dry land?" mateo remarks hopping out of the rig, "what are you doing here? how'd it go at the hospital?" owen asks walking towards his kids, "nothing crazy, they just added a couple extra stitches, I'm good" tk explains, "why do you look like you're about to jump off of a cliff?" owen asks, "hey, guys? uh, I wanted to talk to you about something, and, um, if you could, bear with me 'cause it's kind of a lot" tk explains, "mm" paul responds, "I'm an addict" tk confesses, "TK" owen warns, "no, dad, I need to do this, please?, It's opioids, and a few months back, in new york, I had a relapse pretty bad one, I OD'd and my dad and my sister, well, my captain and my rescue partner they found me unconscious, my heart had stopped, and, well, they did what they do best, and they saved my life, and the only reason I came down here was cause he forced me to, you know?" tk explains, "what I'm trying to say is, I never really chose this for myself, any of it, not even becoming a firefighter, and, uh, well" tk trails off his sister rubbing his back in support, "hey, hey, whatever you gotta say right here, say it" judd instructs patting tk's arm, "he's right, man, we got you, fam" paul assures, "yeah, well, that's the point cause today at that intersection when that woman was dying, I would have given her everything I had to save her, and I did give her everything I had, but it wasn't enough, until you showed up, all you guys, and I knew in that instant that not only was she gonna be okay but I was gonna be okay too because this is what I wanna do for the rest of my life, and, at least for now, this is where I wanna do it, with you guys, so I choose this family because this is, this is where I belong" tk finishes turning back to owen, "so, um, no, that's, that's all I got" tk says chuckling, "aw, hey, well, group hug" mateo announces initiating the hug, "I don't think that's ne, oh, ooh, mateo, stitches, dude, ow, ooh, someone's ripe, I'm guessing that's judd" tk guesses as everyone pulls away from the hug, "yeah, well, that's what you get for showing up at the end of a shift, man" judd explains, "proud of you" paul announces hugging tk, "hey, thanks, man" tk says, "all right, everybody, hit the showers, proud of every one of you" owen instructs, "don't you mean every one of y'all?" marjan teases walking backwards, "yeah, that too, hey, are you sure about this? It's been a traumatic day, an emotional time, you do not have to make this decision right now" owen explains to tk.

"Dad, I've never been more sure about anything in my entire life" tk confirms, "we had a long hard chat about it" ck reveals as owen pulls the two into a hug, "all right, I got some paperwork I'm gonna finish up, then I thought maybe" owen trails off seeing carlos entering the station, "how many life decisions did you make today?" owen asks causing his daughter to chuckle, "one step at a time, dad, I'll see you at home" tk instructs smiling as he walks towards carlos the two hugging once he reaches him, "have him home before curfew otherwise my dad might keel over!" ck taunts causing the two men to smile leaving her to wait for her crew.

When the four remaining 126 members begin heading out they come face to face with a beautiful solar flare, the four stopping to admire the beautifulness of the colours as they deliberated about where to go to get some dinner, the two women wanting the same thing but the two men wanting something different ck bumping into an old friend, Buck from a training week back in New York who subsequently worked in one of the other stations.
