Whenever she was hungry, and didn't want to bother her moms, she went to the forest to pick fruits and dig up vegetables.
It was something she had taken to doing after both her parents had found themselves with tied hands and couldn't give the girl a snack from the pantries.
"I'm heading out." [Y/n] sat on the steps of her house. Hers hands working on pulling on her old work boots. When she was sure her boots were secured, she readjusted her mushroom themed hat, that had holes poked through for her horns, and brushed off her dress.
Unlike her previous days, she didn't wear her scarf. Instead, a simple green cloth choker.
"Are you sure you don't want me to cook you something?" Her mama called out.
"I'm sure." She swung her satchel over her shoulder before picking up wicker basket. It was empty save for a cloth at its bottom. "I'll be back before the sun starts to set."
"Okay! Be safe!"
She had already gathered a fair amount when she saw them.
