Aaliyah12:14pm, The following day...
Guys parents invited me and him to their house for brunch this afternoon. I was so relieved when I seen that his sisters wasn't at brunch. I did wonder where his little brother was. It seem like he's never actually at any of the family gatherings.Even though our night ended sour doesn't mean we couldn't enjoy a nice brunch with his parents.
All four of us sat at the table eating the food his mom prepared before we got there. The vibe was kind of off between me and his mom though. You can tell when someone feels a type a way about you but acts nice to cover it up.
His dad was really cool and very down to earth. Guys mom on the other hand was more on the stuck up side to me. I've been trying not to judge too fast because we don't really know each other that well yet. But it doesn't seem to be a problem for his sisters and her obviously.
"So Aaliyah, tell us more about yourself." His dad asked curiously as he reached for another waffle.
"Well, I graduated from college not too long ago as valedictorian..." I began talking as I moved my half eaten waffles around the white glass plate with my fork. Looking at the waffles instantly brought a memory back from yesterday morning when Guy and I got into it at the breakfast spot. I sighed before making eye contact with his parents. "I have my degree in business and I'm planning to put that in use as soon as possible. I love to cook and spend time with my family most days." I continued.
His mom picked up her white coffee mug and sipped her coffee before talking. The red lipstick she wore left a stain. She pushed her ear length salt and pepper bob out of her wrinkled face. "Okay then why don't you encourage Guy to come and visit us more? If you're such this family person? I also heard about the altercation between you and my daughters too. I don't appreciate you coming all the way here and stirring things up between my kids.... You never..."
"Ma." Guy interrupted her shaking his head frowning as soon as he caught her attention.
"Carey..." his dad said holding his hand up signaling for her to stop talking. I can tell that Ms. Carey's mouth has been a problem within their relationship. She seemed so nice when I first got here but I guess that's just a facade to hide how ugly she must be on the inside.
"What? I want to know if he chose the right woman this time. What woman doesn't communicate with her man about serious situations like this? Who makes their partner choose between family and themselves? I don't like that at all." She folded her hands together, shaking her head from left to right. Her hair followed the motion, swinging in the process.
