The moment we got upstairs, the sound of open fire filled our ears. Some from the left, and some from the right. Pained screams from getting wounded were heard as I glanced up at Aiden who side glanced at me for a moment. I swallowed hard as I checked my gun once more, preparing myself for battle the moment that door opened.
Aiden tapped his ear piece, "We're at the door."
There was a pause, more gun shots coming from the right while the left side returned it, as a body thudded just beyond the door.
"Friendlies on the left." Aiden said lowly as he checked his gun as well. "Ready?"
"Always." I said with a wink.
He threw his foot at the door, knocking the metal completely off the hinges. The sound of the loud bang of it hitting the floor echoed throughout the hallway. Darkness enveloped us as we quickly went to step out, only to receive welcome fire from the right side of us.
I pulled Aiden back by his shoulder, into the safety of our cover as my eyes met Mason's from the doorway on the opposite side of the hallway, an office it looked like. Bodies were in between us on the floor, covered in blood, bullets, and discarded weapons. A bullet hit the archway next to my shoulder making me flinch back a bit out of the opening fire.
"How many are there?" I asked once the shooting stopped for a moment.
Mason shrugged, a pained look on his face as he glanced down at his shoulder which dripped blood. He was wounded.
I ducked my head out into the hallway quickly, eyeing the right side to see what was going on. As my eyes made contact with two shooters with automatics, a bullet flied out quickly, missing the edge of my nose as Aiden pulled me back as I did to him.
He flashed me an angry look in his eyes before rolling them and letting out a low growl. I chuckled to myself before putting my loaded gun in between my lower back and waist band.
"Cover me." I said lowly, cracking my neck as a plan brewed in my head.
"What?"
I eyed his dog tags that were around his neck, raising my eyebrow a bit. I haven't seen him wear those in years.
"Cover me, Sergeant." I repeated, looking to his blue hues again, flashing a smug smile.
"The fuck are you going to do, walk into the bullets on purpose?"
I shrugged. "Not if you aim correctly." I tilted my head slightly. "You wanted the old me, you got it. I'm quicker than they are now. I'll take out the loners while you move into the ones around the corner hiding."
Aiden looked at me for a moment before exhaling deeply. "You're going to be the death of me, I swear to -"
"What? God?" I scoffed, turning around to face Mason as I eyed the knives that were on the dead solider before us. "Which one?" I muttered mostly to myself.
Using my newly mischievous god-given abilities, I leaped forward, grabbing the two knives that were on the solider and turned around quickly, aiming them at the soldiers in their positions. I aimed correctly, as one knife went into the head of the one to the right, but the one to the left moved out of the way and dodged it.
Well one was better than none.
He began to shoot at me and I dodged the bullets as I ran towards him, seeing the bullets fly by me. Aiden returned fire towards him, covering my ass as I grabbed my gun from behind me and slid into home, sending a bullet off into his dome.
I retrieved the knives as booted feet approached from behind me. I turned around quickly to see our team running from their position towards me, while the others that rounded the corner slowly started to drop their weapons. There was only four of them, all looked young as I walked towards them.
