The moment I heard the word, my heart immediately began thumping hard. What did he mean by that?
I looked at the situation carefully. Aiden said he didn't know him. Tyler called him a traitor. Either Tyler knew something about Aiden I didn't or this was the brainwashing talking. Project X used the word 'traitor' a lot during training and missions. I'm sure I'm a traitor in his eyes as well.
"Traitor?" I asked, carefully.
Tyler laughed, a smirk creeping on his lips and he adjusted his position on the ground. He didn't attempt to even break free. "You know.. after all the hype about you, I wouldn't peg you to be this stupid."
"Fuck you mean by that?" I cocked my head to the side.
Tyler looked between Aiden and I with a sly smile on his face. "She doesn't know. Does she?"
My jaw clenched tightly, I looked at Aiden. His face was stoic as he looked down slightly. "What don't I know?" I said carefully.
Aiden looked at me quickly. "It's not important right now. He's trying to distract you from the task at hand."
"No I'm not." Tyler shrugged. "Just thought your wife should know."
How did he know that? I looked back at Tyler. "What are you talking about?" I asked him. If Aiden wasn't going to tell me, I'm sure he'd be open to it.
Tyler pursed his lips, he seemed pleased that I finally asked him. I ignored Aiden's sigh.
"Agent Braxton here was assigned to take you in, dead or alive. That's why he was allowed to be free. Only he took out his chip which told them he'd gone rogue."
I inhaled deeply, letting out slowly as I grabbed my gun from my backside, pointing it at Aiden.
Now I was pissed. I was hesitant on trusting him from the get go, but I let my heart win over my brain. I should have known he was shady from the start. With the constant withholding information, the whole fiasco with Layla.
"Is that true?" I asked Aiden, who's eyes widened as I pointed the gun towards him.
"Yes." He said quickly, putting his hands up slowly. "Bella it was the only way I can get out. I had to gain their trust somehow. You know I would never do that to you."
I stared at him, pissed. A part of me believed him while the other didn't. Great. I married a guy whom I have major trust issues with, and it hasn't even been 4 months yet.
On the other hand, Aiden was right. Tyler was trying to distract us from the task at hand. I'll play into it.
"Get out." I ordered Aiden.
"Babe.." Aiden began to plead.
"I said get out." I widened my eyes once more.
"I'm not leaving you alone with him, you can be pissed at -"
"I'm not alone. I have the friendly neighborhood vampire upstairs. Now get the fuck out or I will shoot you."
"I'd leave bro. She's got those crazy eyes going on." Tyler chimed in.
"I'm not going far." He warned and walked past me and up the stairs.
The room fell silent as I processed everything. Until the voice of Tyler broke it with a light chuckle.
"Marriage not going so swell, huh?"
I tucked my gun in my backside while studying him quickly. Nobody knew we got married except for us and Bryan, and maybe Skye and Frank if Bryan had a big mouth. Nobody outside our immediate circle.
