Warning: Swearing, Mentions of Suicide and Assault.

As the sun begins to rise outside, the sound of quiet snoring can be heard within the Palace walls.

Your eyes opened long ago, as your mind had been racing with thoughts all night long. You would've gotten up by now had it not been for Steven still being asleep. You continue to lay next to him, gently stroking his hair as he rests peacefully. You did promise to be by his side in the morning after all.

Eventually, he begins to stir, his mouth letting out an exhausted grumble as his eyelids slowly open. A small smile spreads across his lips as he gazes at you, his voice a near whisper, "Good morning, beautiful..."

You can't help but burst out laughing at that, having to sit up and cover your mouth to suppress your giggling.

Steven sits up as well, though very carefully as his body is still weak. "What's so funny?" He tilts his head in confusion.

You continue to snicker, barely able to form a sentence, "Steven- I appreciate the compliment... but have you seen me? Who are you calling beautiful?" You point to your messy hair, baggy eyes and dirt still on your face from last night. "And look at you! You do seem to be less pale than yesterday, but neither of us are winning any beauty contests."

"Well damn, that's harsh." He tries to say seriously, only to begin laughing too, "Oh man, you're right! We both look awful!" He points to your feet, "You still have your shoes on!"

You playfully push him, "So do you! Looks like we got the sheets all dirty."

After a solid minute of endless laughter, you relax, leaning against him for a moment. "I feel like I could stay here all day... in your arms."

Steven doesn't respond to that, and you don't think anything of it. "Lay back down and rest a little longer. I'll be back soon." You speak softly, stroking his cheek. Your love doesn't argue, his eyes closing as you leave the room.

Taking note of your raggedy appearance, you head over to the washing room to clean up, making sure every inch of you is clean. You scrub away all the dirt, massaging your head as your rinse your hair to ease a minor headache.

Your clothes are still dirty, so you decide that you'll clean them by hand later along with the bed sheets. For now, you'll have to find something else to wear. You wrap a towel around you, eagerly walking to the dressing room, shuffling through the beautiful and unique clothes to find something new to try on.

After flipping through for a while and grumbling as you find things that would be cute but are too big or small for you, finally something fits. It's a casual plain red dress, with long sleeves, a little lace near the bottom, and comfortably soft fabric. It's not too fancy, but it makes you feel more feminine after being in a shirt and jeans for so long. You even manage to find the flats dress shoes you wore when you first got married. The silver sparkle of them matches perfectly.

You make your way to the humble kitchen and dining room, getting the table set up and preparing a simple breakfast. You're not too experienced with cooking, but you do your best. You even go out of your way to assemble some fruit on a plate in the center of the table. The bright colors make your lips raise into a smile.

With everything ready, you return to the bedroom, considerately waking Steven. He slowly sits up, blushing a little when he notices your outfit. "Uh... is today a special occasion or something?"

You hold your hands together behind your back, nervously twiddling your thumbs. "No, not really. I just... wanted to look nice for you." You don't give him time to respond to that, saying, "Come on, let's get you cleaned up, and then we can eat breakfast."
