Your eyes slowly open, the moon still high in the sky. The warmth that had lulled you to sleep earlier is no longer there. You sit up in bed alone, confused as to where Steven is. You call out his name, walking around the room and towards the door. You peek out into the hallway, seeing nobody nearby. You step out of the bedroom, treading the hallways cautiously. For some reason, you have this unsettling feeling in your gut, your heart pounding with anxiety.

Once again you call out his name. No response.

You turn a corner, rubbing your eyes in surprise. Didn't I just pass this room? You walk by the same set of doors a second time, the tension beginning to thicken as the hallway in front of you seems to expand on forever.

You freeze in your tracks, seeing the silhouette of someone at the end of the hallway. "Steven? Is that you?" No it can't be, their build is thinner than his.

You aren't sure why, but you start to walk towards the mysterious figure, calling out to them. "Hello? Who are you?"

The shadowed person slowly turns towards you, their eyes locking with yours.

The terror their expression instills in you causes your heart to stop. Your hands begin to tremble, your head shaking as your eyes widen. "Connie?! What's wrong with you??"

Connie's eyes are wide open, her lips formed into a painful frown. Her body is covered in blood, a large wound in the center of her stomach. She whispers, "Y/n..." Her arm reaches for you before she suddenly collapses to the floor.

You run full speed to her side, scooping her into her arms. The blood begins to stain your hands as you attempt to stop the bleeding. You hold down a gag at seeing her open wound. Your friend's eyes lose their shine, a quiet breath leaving her lips as she drifts away. "NO! CONNIE! DON'T DIE ON ME!" You scream, staring down at her lifeless body.

You hear the sound of maniacal laughter, footsteps approaching and becoming louder. The form of Steven draws closer, holding Amethyst's Gem in one hand, the other covered in Connie's blood. With the clench of his fist, the Quartz shatters, the pieces falling to the floor with the sound of breaking glass.

You stumble onto your back in horror, scooting backwards clumsily. "Why?!" You shout at him.

Steven doesn't respond.

You hold a hand in front of you defensively. "Don't come any closer!"

He isn't listening at all. His lowered head lifts slowly, his expression matching that of a crazed killer. "Now it's your turn..." He conjures a spiky pink bubble around his fist. "This is the price you pay for your disloyalty!"

The palace walls begin to shake, everything beginning to spin. You curl up into a ball, crying and screaming as your ears become overloaded with a mix of screeching sounds at an increasing volume. "Stop! Make it stop! Please!"

You wake with a start, panting and covered in sweat. The sun is beginning to rise outside the window, giving you reassuring light. Once again, Steven is missing, but you hope that the sunlight means that the nightmare is over.

After cleaning yourself up, you sit down on the bed, collecting your thoughts. Why did you have that dream? Was there any meaning to it? Maybe your anxiety and worries about your friend's safety made you dream of the worst possible outcome? Whatever the case, you pray it won't happen again.

You tense upon hearing the bedroom door open, unsure of what Steven will be like this morning. Will he finally be ready to talk about what happened between you two?
