Chapter 2: avoiding

-marinette's POV-

I left the bathroom after reading the paper and went to class.
My heart was pounding and I was shaking badly until lunch.
I was walking towards the doors to leave the school and go home for lunch when suddenly Adrien started sprinting towards me, all I could do is stare as he got closer to me.
"Hey Mari! Can I go to your house for lunch?" Adrien exclaimed a little to loudly.
I had to think of something fast. "Oh uh I'm so sorry but my house is a mess and my mom doesn't allow friends over when it's messy. Maybe another time." I muttered.
A frown settled on Adrien's face as he said "oh okay, I'll ask Nino I guess."
My heart shattered when I heard the disappointment in his voice but what am I supposed to do?
I looked around to see Lila staring at me while smirking. Ugh I hate her!

I made my way out the door with no other disturbances and did the short walk to my house.
When I entered the bakery the familiar scent of fresh baked croissants filled my nose and my stomach grumbled but despite my hunger I ran straight upstairs and sat on my bed.
I stared at a wall thinking for 15 minutes until tikki awoke me from my trance. "Marinette are you okay?" She said in her squeaky voice.
"Y-yes I'm fine. Just thinking." I replied quickly.
Tikki didn't say anything but I know she knew I was lying. I got in my bed and decided to take a short nap to clear my mind.

I woke up to tikki shaking my arm and yelling "MARINETTE YOU ARE AN HOUR LATE GET UP!!!!!!"
I jumped out of bed and raced downstairs, I didn't even have time to tie my hair back into pigtails but that was my least priority right then.
I ran into class and said "sorry I'm late I had a family crisis!"
My teacher gave me a disapproving frown but said nothing and motioned for me to sit.

After a long 3 hours, school finally let out so I was free to go on patrol with cat noir.
My terrible luck decided that it was it's time to shine when Adrien came up to me and said "You are really pretty with your hair down, you should do it more often!"
I just nodded and ran but Lila grabbed my by the arm and dragged me into the bathroom.
"Did I make myself clear when I said to avoid adrien?!? Now you have to be punished! I didn't want to dirty my hands today but I guess I will have to."
She hit me hard in the head and I blacked out.

I awoke 3 hours later when the school janitor shook me awake "What the hell are you doing here! It's 7 pm, school led out 3 hours ago!"
"I'm sorry I hit my head and blacked out!" I said apologetically.
The janitor gave me a concerned look but let me go.
I ran straight home and fell into bed.
Tikki flew over to me and said "marinette you have a giant bruise on your forehead!"
Dang it. I went to the bathroom and put some cream on it.
I then realized that I was late for patrol!
After I transformed, I ran to me and cats meeting spot and to my surprise he was still there waiting.
"I'm sorry I'm late! I- uh had some trouble before coming here. Why are you still waiting here?!?" I said
"M'lady! Your forehead! What happened?!?"
Shit.
